Need help from Coffee Drinkers

Hi there,

I'm opening a drive thru coffee house in January and am trying to decide on a name. I've narrowed it down to a few names and would really appreciate the input of those of you who drink coffee regularly, as well as those of you who drink coffee once in a while (or would be inclined to do so).

Would you mind taking a moment and rating the following names on a 1 to 5 scale ? 1 being hate it, 5 being love it. Free coffee for all who participate. See below for details.*

Keep in mind that the atmosphere of this place will be contemporary in look. The exterior will be an anodized aluminum/bronze color with a warm and comfortable interior.

1) Joe Coffee (Company)
2) The Bean Bar (Coffee Co.)
3) Coffee Werks
4) The Bean Scene (Coffee Co.)
5) Javalish Coffee

*If you stop by our place after we open in January 2004 and mention the TreoCentral poll, all who have participated by posting will get a free coffee drink on me. We'll be at 3111 Hancock St. in San Diego, CA, right off the 8 freeway at the corner of Rosecrans and Hancock.

Thanks VERY MUCH. I really appreciate the input.

Rick in San Diego

Being a coffee nerd, cigar nerd and a nerd in general

I like Coffe Werks & Bean Scene the best. Don't much care for Javalish at all ... hope it wasn't your favorite.

Maybe you can do a word play for your opening advert ... maybe like "Time to be seen at the Bean Scene".

You're a pretty fair hike from West Palm ... so I guess you won't have to worry about me stopping in!

Right now I'm at The House of Cappucino (local place giving Starbucks a run for the $$) enjoying an iced redeye (doubled brewed coffe w/shot of espresso, a touch of half & half over ice and run thru the blender) while tapping out this note on my Treo 600!

Life is good! Good luck & keep me posted on your success.

5. The Bean Bar (Coffee Co.)
4. The Bean Roaster (Coffee Co.)
3. The Bean Scene (Coffee Co.)
2. Coffee Werks
1. Joe Coffee (Company)
0. Javalish Coffee

Well, since you insist. I will stop by to collect during the spring. Most likely during the opening weekend of the USS Midway Museum at Navy Pier.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies so far...

Thanks for the two replies so far....

Javalish isn't my fav

I added it because the consultant I'm working with prefers to have 'java', 'coffee' or 'espresso' in the name. I wouldn't mind that, but most of those names are either taken or boring. Javalish was less cutesy than javalicious so....

Keep the responses coming! It's great hearing what you all have to say.

Thanks!

Rick

Alot of those names sorta sound "yuppie-ish" if you don't mind me saying so.. why not something like "bean2go" or "Java2Go!" , "SpeedyBean" , I think you want to work in the angle that's its a drive thru as well..

Combine it with a Christian bookstore and call it "Holy Grounds".

I like Coffee Werks, or something similar. Actually I just like the word "Coffee."

Coffee Coffee
Coffee to Coffee
Coffee over Coffee
Coffee the Coffee
Coffee Coffee Company

Keep 'em comin...

Thanks for the continued replies. Keep 'em comin'. Except for you Potatoho. You should switch to decaf maybe!

As for Holy Grounds, the place is pretty small... the interior is only 1000 square feet; no room for a bookstore too.

There will be patio seating too. I am a Christian and liked 'The Supreme Bean', but it's already taken.

Any more votes out there?

Rick

No Beans

I think the bean names are not so good because it is not instantly clear that it is about coffee (drink, not eat). Since you are not a huge chain of coffee shops (yet), I think your name has to speek for itself.

As it is a drive through, it will probably not be a very fancy place, but quick, comfortable and good quality. I think "Joe Coffee" reflects that best, although I have to say I am not an expert... (and I seem to be the only one who prefers it so far!)

Good luck for your company!

re: Beans

This place is a bone fide drive thru, not one of the shack variety. It used to be a McDonald's Express Drive-thru which just means a small McDonalds with drive thru and walk up service (no inside seating).

We are installing indoor seating and will be making it nice looking and comfy inside. I'm going for a smooth bronze metallic look on the outside with lots of windows and hardwood floors and an inviting seating area inside with a few tables for two in the front and a lounge area in the rear with comfy seats and a couch.

I hope that helps give an idea of the kind of place this will be...

Thanks,

Rick

Personally, I would kill for drive-through coffee. Especially at 6:30 a.m.! I can sooner see me saying "I'm stopping at Coffee Werks on the way home" than any of the others.

Of those suggested I also like Joe Coffee (and you thought we'd never agree on anything! )

Bean Scene as in BEING SEEN!

I like Bean Scene the best as if your at the place and "being seen." My next choice would be Coffee Werks.
