Clie MP3 Player, camera, GPS Memory Sticks announced
By: bookrats @ 08:35 PM

Gotta give Sony credit -- they don't sit on their tushes. For Clie N610C users, there will be a new MP3 player Memory Stick out in Japan on Sept. 22nd.

[For those of you who have N710C models, rejoice -- you're still up a leg on N610C owners. You can play MP3s from memory stick memory cards; and apparently the MP3 memory stick cannot play ATRAC3 encoded music, like the 710Cs can (if you use the right type of memory stick).]

Also, Sony made preliminary announcements about camera and GPS memory sticks. These are preliminary, but have some pictures and details.

All information from PalmInfoCenter.com.

I have a webcomic. You should read it, or I may do something rash. Drive-by Loitering is updated every monday, wednesday and friday.

That thing is so small. Hmmmmm . . . how much do you wanna bet that the 610 and 320 already can process mp3s it is just that they don't have a headphone port.

I'm assuming that the 610 and the 320 don't have the chip in them to allow for MP3 decoding -- I thought I read that in the CNET review of the 610.

If that is the case. Then owners of the S300 (the first Clie) could probably use it. That would be so awesome.

I'm sorry -- I should have mentioned that. They did mention that this would work for the S300.

Ok its official. That is awesome.!!! What a "value added" to the S300 owners. They get a great reason to keep what they have.

I am certain that there are people looking for a cheap S300.

What if you use the adapter on the 710C?

God... that's a... a brilliant question!! I mean, yeah, it's completely redundant; but... wouldn't it be a hoot?

It would be a very expensive 2nd pair of headphones...

Oh, well, pointless discussion... the Japanese web page pretty much says (I think -- can't read Japanese) it works only for the PEG-300, PEG-S5x0 and PEG-N6x0 models. (Which makes sense.)

Wow... I reaaaaaally hope Handspring comes out with something with hi-res, 16-bit color (Yes, color is an important feature - just look at the increasing sales of Sony's color units and the Ipaq, or ask anyone who's switched) with native MP3 capability by the time I'm ready to replace my Prism. The one big thing that's kept me loyal to the Visor platform (apart from all the $$$ I've invested in Springboards and peripherals) is the Eyemodule camera... but the Clie is now beginning to look very tempting despite the fact I'd have to replace my Stowaway, etc... I'm very curious to see what Handspring's next color device is like.
