Why not a Palm?

That's my point. I bought the Visor for the expandability (SPECIFICALLY the GPS), but I'm not going to pay that much more for half the unit.

The earlier post about software was interesting. I was unaware of all the different software available/being stuck with one software with the standalone unit, but the fact remains we are still being stuck for 1/2 again the price for 1/2 the equipment:

Visor phone $300 with one provider
regular cell (screen, keypad, etc) 99-199. with provider choice.

I guess I'm just venting about the cost - the springboard is super, and I hope the modules eventually come down in price.

Exactly the same for me !

This is a great way to phrase it, and pretty much exactly on target. I was just in a bunch of the office stores today, and marveled at the stunning array, for ex. of digital recorders. One (by Memorex?) was like $59, gave you 96min. of rec. time -- and allowed you to add a SmartMedia card!
And there were a good dozen models available.

SB mfgs. seem to think they should get EXTRA for giving you less of a device / options (usually), when if they really want to sell them, they should charge LESS than standalone devices. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that many of the new, cheap standalone devices will continue to win, even if it's a bit more inconvenient to carry many.

Anyway, I still have the EM1, which is always in my Visor. I MUST get the EM2 however, so I don't just have STILLS "always at the ready" -- but VIDEO, too.
TO ILLUSTRATE, LET ME TELL YOU THE FOLLOWING EVIL NYPD STORY FROM ABOUT A WEEK AGO:
A PSYCHOTIC COP (ARE THERE ANY OTHER? I THINK THIS IS DUE TO OUR NEWLY-SWELLED GUILIANI-NAZI 48,000-STRONG EVIL POLICE FORCE -- THEY'VE HIRED TOO MANY, W/OUT CHECKING THEM OUT THOROUGHLY) ZOOMED HIS "PARKING METER SCOOTER" (THOSE LITTLE OUT-HOUSE-TYPE VEHICLES) RIGHT UP TO A WOMAN WHEELING HER BABY IN HER STROLLER. HE CAME W/IN ABOUT A FOOT OF HER, NEEDLESSLY. HE WAS "IN A RUSH," CLEARLY -- AND IT SEEMED ALMOST IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO KILL HER AND HER BABY.
THIS WAS DEAD CENTER OF MANHATTAN, PRETTY MUCH DEAD CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE -- AND A TON OF PEOPLE WITNESSED THIS. WE WERE ALL HORRIFIED. BUT SINCE THE EVIL COP "DIDN'T COMMIT A CRIME" NO ONE COULD ACT. IT WAS VERY CLEAR TO ALL OF US THAT HE HAD DONE THIS ON PURPOSE, TO "BULLY HER" INTO NOT GETTING IN HIS WAY (EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD THE LIGHT), SO HE COULD "GO FIRST."
BUT IF I SHOT A LITTLE 5-SECOND VIDEO, PERHAPS THAT EVIL COP WOULD NOW BE OFF THE FORCE. IT WOULD PROB. HAVE MORE IMPACT THAN THIS FEEBLE RE-TELLING.
INSTEAD, HE CONTINUES TO THREATEN US ALL WITH HIS DEMENTED MALEVOLENCE.

Anyway, I also have one of the CF SBs -- but I only move stuff to and fro when needed, then re-insert my EM1, so I'm "always at the ready."

Thumbs up

The VisorPhone, Xircom modem, flash module, Targus Total Voice Recall, and the Back-up module are those Springboard modules that get slipped in everyday or so. The Eyemodule 2 gets its share of use too along with Presenter-to-Go. Bring on the Xircom SWE and that bugger will be used heavily.

Quick question:

I'm going to go back to school, so I was planning on getting a Stowaway so I could use my Visor to take notes. Now, since I will be writing things at school, and not able to sync and backup my material until I get home, I figured I needed to get something to backup works in progress. Originally I thought that a backup module would do the trick, but then I thought that maybe what I needed was an 8mg flash module so I can store other stuff on it as well as backup my docs, etc. (I have backup buddy at home for thorough backups) I don't think I truly understand the differences between the 2 modules, the pros and cons of each, since early posts for this thread state that most people have both and use both regularly. I'm trying to keep the cost down by getting just what I need (not what I want) but more info is needed to decide....Please help

If you just want to backup those docs then I'd say go for the 8mb module, you can easily copy the files when you're done editing them, to the flash for safety.

If you want to backup ALL of your data then go with the Backup module because its faster & a one step solution.

I always have my 16mb module in. I have 3 different bible versions on it, which comes in handy when comparing verses. One of the bibles has Strongs Concordance with it, which is pretty large. I have an 8mb module just sitting there, haven't found a use for it yet.

I keep my 8mb flash mod in all of the time and that is why I will not buy an edge, I need the space, plus I use JackBack and have it set to backup twice daily. The flash module contains my games, backup software and data, dictionary, thesarus.
