Hmmm, I read the review by the M&M crew and I am now not real pleased with a few things (and thankfully happy with others).

For instance, I don't want my toy looking like, well, a toy! I bought the blue one because I thought it'd be cool, but I don't want it looking silly. Also, what is up with the ice docking station? I would much rather have a black one. I will wait and get mine and have a look before I decide if I want to return it for an exchange.

Also, as far as Surehand is concerned, I might decided that'd be better anyway. I'd REALLY like a Palm VII, but the price is simply obscene. If Handsrping is coming out with a Palm VII-like device, I might be inclined to use my VDlux for a month, hotsync all my stuff and then send it back while I wait for a "better" Visor. Or, I could hotsync all my stuff and then send it back for just a Visor. There are lots of things I am considering now.

Also, thanks Mike and Marcus for the report. This site and the forums have been invaluable to me for sources of information (and even some humor). Thanks very much.

Ray

Question

Is Ice included with the "see the colors first"? I mean how bad can clear plastic be? If it is Opaqe, all the better. M&M, question for you guys, how was the ice compared to the "colors"? The docking station seems flimsy in the pictures. I guess that all it really is, is a chunk of plastic holding a cable.

Wink

The report was interesting, but I for one don't really care whether my Visor looks manly or not. (And I sure as hell don't care whether it looks Batmanly.) I like the aesthetic effect of a translucent case for an electronic device, and I like the color blue. <shrug>

I know that it doesn't matter to me either. It is probably going to be mostly hidden in a case anyway. And I'm not changing from Blue.

Im for sure not changing my Blue... I bought it because it would look different from all those other palm units out there. Im still a kid at heart and its going to be used it a academic setting so the more different the better.

I *know* I'm not changing from my blue... I rather still like it, and instead of reading too much into the comments made about the colors, I think I'd rather see for myself before I judge my choice and tell myself I made a mistake ordering (*gasp*) a *color*! I still have faith in my original decision

You guys are, of course, right. I said initially I will wait and reserved judgment, but I guess I just don't like having someone say something like that.

I can already tell you I will definately not like the ice holder. I like things like that to be either white, beige or black. ALL of my kitchen stuff is white. My blender, juicers, soymilk maker, spoons, etc...all (yes, I am a vegetarian). But, I guess a black one would not go with a colored visor (but then again how long will the visor sit in the cradle?).

I'm really hoping I love the color of the blue and look for any opportunity to whip it out and impress those around me (wait, I already do that on occasion, but..........LOL). I think the idea of the Visor is cool, but I hate to think we will have something even better in only 3-5 months down the road. Why spend the 250 bones when you can get something of VII-like caliber for half the price?

If you really want to see "close-up" what the colors will look like. Pick up the latest issue of Yahoo Internet Life magazine. That would be the November issue.

It has a nice, but short, article about the latest trend in fashion for consumer electronics. In the article(on page 144) it shows a very nice up close picture of the colored Visors.

The colors look much different than Handspring's. The Green Visor is almost unrecognizable.

Are those pictures available on the web anywhere?

Cool

I also ordered a blue, and I'm sticking with it. There's a nice big close up picture of a blue visor here - select BVF.jpg:

Looks nice and manly to me! Graphite is for conformist wimps!

Actually, I was a little disappointed they didn't have 'em in pink or lavender. Oh well ...

Talking

Honestly, I'm a decent sized dude who is not what anyone would consider "fluff," but I'd have gone for a deep purple (amethyst), amazon (or emerald) green, red (cherry is best for me), or other dark colors.

Anyone here ever play with their screen colors in Windows? Man, it is really amazing how many totally cool colors there are!!

But, I also realize HS cannot accommodate too broad a range of colors. I guess blue will have to do.

Saw all the colors at Internet World Yesterday. I thought that the blue color was paler than all the photos lead you to believe. I am still keeping my blue order.
I would like something different than my black notebook, black Newton and black Palm.

It's a color people. A color.

If it were essential to the OS, then I could understand.

Anyone who is worth impressing would know that the Handspring Visor is not a gameboy. And for any one who does think it is one...then by all means...whip out the Tiger Woods game and let them play!
