Question

I have had my visor for almost a week now, and am already noticing scratches not only where I write, but also some on the screen. Is this normal? I am upgrading from a Palm Personal, and it took me about 2 years to get many scratches on it, and still they were only on the writing area. Does the visor just not have as good of a screen or what?

I noticed the same thing. I think that it is the piece of junk stylus they give you. I noticed the small ridge near the end of the stylus, and also noticed that all my scratches are horizontal or vertical (as in, perfectly up and down or left and right). I bought a Stylus+plus and it doesn't scratch anymore. I also intend to buy some Brainwashes and screen protectors.

Clean your screen well and install a WriteRight sceen protector. It will degrade your clarity, due to the textured surface but it WILL protect your screen. I never even touch the screen without first installing one.

it doesn't degrade it that much.. but it is well worth it. The visor stylus is one piece of sh~t without a shadow of a doubt.

Some guy I know put a very visible and very easy to feel scratch in the screen.. huge. I put a lot of little ones and I decided it was sick of it so I bought some Writerights. Not only does it protect, but I am no longer scared to touch the screen, so I can write a LOT faster now.

Best Buy also carries them for about the same price, and you don't have to pay shipping. The stylus that the Visor comes with is a piece of junk, and I felt like I was scratching the sceen when I used it, so got the WriteRights for the PalmPilot, and they fit pretty good. Top to bottom they fit exactly. There are two tiny strips on the left and right that the WriteRight doesn't cover, but the unprotected areas are so narrow I can't even fit the tip of my stylus in them. However, I've heard that the WriteRights for WinCE devices fit perfectly on the Visor.

I bought the Writerights for WinCE devices, and indeed they do fit perfectly on the visor.

Let's get the numbers a little closer to reality.
Buycomp.com or Buy.com PDA Survival Kit is $34.95 plus $10.04 for shipping plus tax.

On another string someone said you could pick them up for $25- at amazon, sorry wrong again, it's more like $50.00 before tax.

Can anyone tell me of a less expense place to purchase this kit?

Cool

Actually, when I looked for the survival kit on Amazon, they said it was not available.

I just used scotch tape on the graffiti area and always make sure to clean both the screen (with a lint-free cloth) and stylus tip before tapping on the rest of the area. BTW, I normally do not use graffiti, but instead use either built-in keyboard or I enter most of the information via a PC and then data dump it into the Visor.

I have noticed most of the scratches are from dust, dirt, debris, whatever and if you keep the screen and stylus clean, you will remove most of the problems. There are also cleaners available which will remove light scratches and will also place a super thin coating on your screen to shield it from scratches.

Good luck.

Ray

Do the WriteRights cut down on screen glare? They are claimed to...I haven't had much problem yet with scratching the screen, but I have been having a lot of trouble with getting glare off the screen.

I've been laid up the last few days with a broken ankle and it is a pain in the $(!&! to try and use the Visor when you can't easily adjust the lighting or even change your position to reduce glare.
