Remember a few months ago when Compusa ran a rebate ad for the Visor prism for
$200 off? Remember that they forgot to mention in the ad that you had to buy an
omnisky modem to get the rebate? Remember how they had to spend serious $$
reimbursing everyone who applied because of the mistake? Looks like they are
doing it again.
I was flipping through my Sunday Compusa circular and came across an ad for the
Magellan GPS companion for visors. $149-$30 rebate=$119. Cool. Went over and
bought one. After checking out, I went to grab my rebate coupon from their
rack. The designated coupon was for $30 off the GPS module (or a few others)
when purchased with a new visor. The circular didn't say anything about with
the purchase of a visor. Immediately went to the manager to ask how I was
supposed to get my $30 back if I didn't buy a visor. He said I wouldn't. I had
to buy a visor. I told him that was misadvertising, but he didn't care. He then
acted shocked when I immediately asked to return the module. Bonehead.
Lesson to be learned: ALWAYS check out the compusa rebate forms before you buy
anything from them. Don't trust the ads.
