i give up on HandSpring

glad to hear i'm not the only one peeved by handspring. like many of you, i own a visor, (a visor pro as a matter of fact) with a collection of springboards. all works fine for me and i can't possibly think of buying fickle sony products or the step-into-the-dark-ages treo in the future.

one day my pro will die just because it is expected that the lithium ion battery will finally **weep**weep** not be able to hold its charge.

does anyone have any ideas how i could keep my visor pro but be able to replace the battery?

Anyway, I beg to differ with your determination that handhelds fall into consumer electronics. That designation connotes more leisure or recreational rather than critical or productive application. We need a new designation...

Regardless, with consumer electronics (phongraph, 8-track, cassettes, CDs, VHS, LD, DVD, etc.) we see a considerable lifespan of each of those media in stark contrast to the springboard. Imagine if CDs were just introduced and you bought them for three years straight (oh, and did I mention that each CD was $50-100?), then Sony and all of the other CD player manufacturers started ramping down the production of CD players and started promoting a new standard. That's what the consumer electronics space would look like if it looked like the life of the springboard.
