Question

Anyone had a chance to check out the wireless service in the sprawling LA area? My AT&T Wireless digital phone service sucks in alot of places and I'm curious to see how the modems fare before I spend any money. Thanks.

When I was still living in S.Cal and had my Omnisky Palm Vx service, I had almost no problems connecting. However, service on the fringe of Orange county was unacceptable.

I lived out in the Palmdale area but was all over the S. California basin on a regular basis and only really noted problems near outer lying areas and poor cell sites.

Omnisky has a 30 day guarantee policy - buy it and check it out for your specific needs but the last time I was in Orange county - I couldn't connect anywhere.

Thanks for the info Moose Man. Apparently there aren't many LA users of the Minstrel S!

L.A. Coverage

I've had the Minstrel S on my Visor Deluxe for about 3 weeks now, with the YadaYada service. Coverage in L.A. isn't bad at all. I've used it in downtown, in the Valley and in the South Bay. The connection is apparently provided by Verizon, which would explain why I can't always use my cell phone (AT&T) and the modem from the same places....
