I have a G3 PowerBook with a IR port on the back. One day, I was staring at it, remembering the days before my Visor when I'd IR Sync my Palm III with the IR package given by 3Com.
Now that I have my Visor, I set out to once again Sync w/o Wires.
I learned from Calvin's FAQs that only some parts of the Advanced IR package crash my Visor, but not others. I successfully installed the SerIrCommLib.prc and SerialIrPnl.prc libraries without any problems.
Then, I switched my Palm Desktop version 2.1 to look at the IR port. My Mac rewarded me with a crash (MacsBug said that "HotSync Memory" did it). After a restart, it was looking at my settings said it was looking at my Internal Modem as it's local setup, so there seems to be some problems with that. When I finally get my computer to accept the IR port, and put the Visor in front of my PowerBook, a "waiting for sender" message pops up on the Visor, showing that it sees my 'book, but nothing happens on my PowerBook.
My Visor also seems to be ignoring the IR/Serial switch. When I press the HotSync button on my cradle, the Visor happily Syncs though the USB port. Maybe the switch is working after all, because the USB port isn't a Serial port... never mind.
Anyway, I just want to ask the Visor world if anyone has gotten a IR sync pulled off, and how you did it.
