As long as I can remember, my Visor has been adjusting its own screen contrast. It's not simply a matter of variations to the actual contrast. The slide actually moves from where I set it! I've noticed this is particulalry so when I use Avantgo.

Anybody else notice this?

Anytime an application changes the screen mode to grayscale, using the standard API call (such as Avantgo), the contrast control is bump to the right some fixed amount. It is suppose the return to its normal setting when the screen mode changes back black & white.
