Question Visor Edge Problems w/ Mexico or Malaysia Batches?

If you've had a problem with your Visor Edge, please indicate whether it was assembled in Mexico or Malaysia (or another place).

You can figure out where your Edge was assembled by looking under the fliptop attachment cap.

Let's see if there's a correlation between assembly location and problems.

Angry New Edge Nothing but a line on screen

Brand new direct from Handspring. Blue edge after 90 minutes charging all I get is a vertical line about 1/3 from right side. I have tried soft reset, system reset and hard reset to no avail. Unit was assembled in Mexico

I had a bad backlight. My replacement came in and it's from Mexico as well. The only difference is that it had been pre-turned-on, i.e. when I turned it on, there was no initial Palm Computing boot-up.

I guess it's good that they've been actually turning them on and checking them out before shipping.

Had both, first one (one of the first batches of Edge) was from Mexico, no problems with that one. My second one (refurbished, but more like brand new) Edge was from one of the early Malaysian batches. I haven't had problems with either of them, after extensive use.

Replacement gives Fatal Exception error

Got my replacement Edge today and was able to charge and turn on. HOWEVER, every time I do a search I get a Fatal Exception Error. I tried deleting hackmaster and find hack.

Still having problems connecting to the web through my Motorola 7868 phone and cable. Had the same problem with my Deluxe, but the Deluxe at least worked a couple of times. Keep getting the message "Modem not found" I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the phone modem?

Talking Victory!

After a hard reset and careful installation of programs I now have a completely functioning Edge. No "Fatal Exception" Errors and I have even been able to connect to the web using my local ISP. Haven't been able to configure correctly for Verizon qnc yet though.

I am uncertain whether I'll install "Find Hack" which I like but I'm affraid that may have caused the problem?

Hope it last.

Buckm,
Did you ever install FindHack? Did you have anymore problems with it. I've been using it with no problems since I got my Edge.

Haven't installed FindHack yet, but since you report no problems maybe I'll give it a try. Otherwise haven't had many problems. I have had a Fatal Exception Error once recently.

FE's can come from anything, maybe the FE was coming from something else....?.

Actually, I had to get a replacement Edge because every time I tried to backup with the backup module I would get a fatal error, even when nothing was installed on the device.

I think you'll be safe with FindHack. Since reading your post I've tried to get FindHack to fail but have not had one problem with it.

Hope you have success too!
