Angry

So, if I read the FAQ correctly Glenayre won't be modifying the @ctivelink in the future to eliminate the RF problem... their solution will be to swap people's Visors (probably at an additional cost) for shielded ones when they buy the module!

Let me be the first to say, WTF?! As annoying as the initial bundling was, I think most people were assuming that Glenayre would fix the problem eventually because the need to have a modified Visor to use a specific springboard goes against the whole concept of the Springboard slot as an expansion standard.

I hope this doesn't set a precedent; having to buy a new Visor with each new Springboard module won't be too popular with consumers.

I guess if the trade-in was free, I wouldn't care. My Visor is a year old, and the case is pretty beat up.

If I had to pay something more than a nominal cost, I'll be really pissed, to say the least.

The RF noise from the Visor, when combined with the @ctivelink, interfers with the frequencies used on the ReFlex network (the network @ctivelink uses). That's why there is no easy fix to the problem. No other announced modules use this network.

I interviewed Glenayre's CEO and Jeff Hawkins yesterday, were we briefly spoke about the situation - it should be posted tomorrow or over the weekend.

For more info read my long post on the issue in this thread:
