I personally haven't had a problem with that .. however, I do see your concern as there are various light levels that make it very difficult to see the screen (with or without the backlight (or even inverting the backlight)).. If your really good at typing as it is, you may find that you can live without the visual feedback of the screen while taking notes.. However, depending on the circumstances, you might be able to try out various seats/positions in the classroom where the light level would be more favorable to your setup. I have also found that shining a light on the visor (frontlit) works well also -- maybe construct a springboard module that holds batteries for a gooseneck light source.. Or maybe use a clip-on reading light (usually sold at bookstores) -- however, this might be too bright ..
