I just got to briefly play with a TRG Pro. It is basically a Palm III. The screen isn't even as nice as the Visors. I was not that impressed about the unit itself except for two things.
A) It has a nice speaker and can play wav files. That would be nice. Someday maybe on another model of the Visor? When we get color
B) The CF slot. I am not that impressed with it except he has a 64 meg mem card in it. I know he cannot directly access programs on it but WOW. Imagine all the doc and database files you could carry around. I would love to have that much or even 256 megs on it <grin>
Even if you could only access data from say 8 additional megs but could copy from the rest.
Also one of the main reasons is he only paid about $110 for 64 megs of memory. I really wanted the 8 meg module but $80 just for 8 megs is VERY high. Hell the backup module has 8 megs on it and is half the price. I dont understand why the 8 meg module is so expensive.
Okay I want more storage and am a bit envious.
So I was wondering if anyone heard any plans for a Springboard adapter that would use a 64 meg CF card like the TRG can. Or any CF card for that matter. Off hand the springboard is easily large enough to have an adapter and a CF card in it.
They also are supposed to come out with a TRG pro in color in the fall. If they do and improve a few things I may actually buy one. A color PDA with a better speaker for sound and a CF slot to hold wav files and graphics would not be a bad unit at all.
Handspring you better start moving on a VISOR-c soon and remember to improve the speaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
