PRESS RELEASE STARTS HERE:

Notify Technology Introduces New Wireless E-Mail Software For the Handspring Visor Equipped With Glenayre's @ctiveLink Two-Way Messaging Module
New Software Provides First Implementation of End-To-End Triple Key DES Encryption between the Handspring Visor and the Corporate Desktop for Wireless E-Mail Access and Management
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ --

Notify Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: NTFY - news), an innovative communications service and software provider for wireline and ireless notification and messaging services, announced its new NotifyLink(TM) wireless client software for the Handspring(TM) (Nasdaq: HAND - news) Visor(TM) which works in conjunction with the @ctiveLink(TM) two-way wireless messaging module of Glenayre Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEMS - news). The NotifyLink wireless client software for the Handspring Visor has been designed for the ``always on'' e-mail user who wants to be able to access and manage their business e-mail in a secure format while mobile and without the need of carrying around a bulky laptop computer. Notify defines ``always on'' as a continuous connection to the Internet offered by cable or DSL providers or on a LAN/WAN company environment.

The new NotifyLink wireless client software utilizes Notify's recently announced desktop software called NotifyLink Standard Edition to provide Handspring Visor users with wireless notification and management of their e- mail while mobile. Two key features of the NotifyLink solution make it very compelling to the business user. One feature is the encryption of wireless information forwarded from the desktop to the wireless device. This is a key security feature normally required by corporate users. The NotifyLink solution will provide end-to-end Triple Key DES encryption from the desktop to the Visor. Another feature is real time ``synchronization'' of all e-mail activities performed on the Visor with the appropriate folders on the user's desktop.

``We are excited about Notify's wireless e-mail application for the @ctiveLink module,'' said Jim Kelly, Glenayre's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. ``This type of solution will provide Handspring Visor users with access to and management of their e-mail while they are mobile. By supporting end-to-end Triple DES Encryption, Notify has positioned the Visor and @ctiveLink combination as an effective solution for any organization requiring a high level of data encryption.''

NotifyLink Standard Edition desktop software currently supports Microsoft's OutLook 97, 98 and 2000 and will run on Microsoft Windows 9X, Windows ME(TM), Windows NT, and Windows 2000 operating systems. Support for OutLook Express, Netscape, and Eudora are currently under development.

``Our NotifyLink solution expands the Handspring Visor's e-mail function to full wireless synchronization with the desktop,'' said Paul DePond, President and Founder of Notify Technology. ``Now ReFLEX carriers such as SkyTel, Arch Wireless, WebLink Wireless, Metrocall, Verizon Wireless, Bell Mobility Canada, and PageNet Canada have an exciting new hand held computer solution for wireless e-mail notification and management.''

How The NotifyLink Standard Edition Software Works

The NotifyLink Standard Edition software is easily installed on a desktop computer connected to the Internet by a Cable, DSL, or LAN/WAN service. The software is easy to use and quickly configured. The configuration process involves the user specifying the e-mail accounts desired to be accessed by their wireless device, the setting of any filters to screen notification, and designating the type of wireless device and its associated address. In addition, the user can tailor the wireless e-mail notification ``header'' information to be sent to the wireless device such as account, sender, subject, date and time, attachment names, attachment sizes, partial body text, and remaining character count.

Once configured, the software will forward the filtered e-mail using the user defined ``header'' format of information. Once the ``header'' is received on the wireless device, the user will have the option to see ``more'' of the e-mail body or ``reply,'' ``forward,'' or ``delete'' the e-mail and its corresponding attachments. Any action taken on the new e-mail will cause the wireless synchronization of the ``InBox'', ``Sent Items'', or ``Deleted Items'' folders on the users desktop to be updated appropriately. All replies and forwards to e- mails from the wireless device will have the users desktop e-mail address inserted in the ``from'' address field and not the address of the wireless device. Also, e-mails originated from the wireless device will be handled the same way.

I would be very intrested in doing this, but I don't have a Activelink modem. Do you have to have one, or do they give them out with the beta testing?

Ditto. I'd love to see this take off - right now my firm's only option for remotely accessing our email with a PDA is to use a Blackberry. They are neat devices, but I wouldn't want to give up my Prism. This sounds like it would let me have my cake and eat it too.

Cool

You are correct...beta testers need boththe Visor and the Glenayre @ctivelink Module.

I can tell you now that this system eats Blackberry for lunch!

Well, in that case I can't be a beta tester - I've got a Minstrel S (with a one-year service contract) right now, can't justify another wireless module.

But good luck to you - if the product is as good as you say, I'll be begging our IT folks to buy it.

I hope you are successful, as well. I always thought that two-way paging functionality has great promise on the Visor platform, but the current Glenayre module is just too bulky for me. I wonder if they plan to offer a smaller one that fits in the new edge connector? That would sure make an attractive alternative to the RIM devices, if they can get a small enough form factor...
