Question

I am planning on getting a visor platinum, and I was wondering what assortment of springboard modules I would need to get to be able to chat on aim while I'm on the go, if such an ability even exists. Thank you.

Exclamation

i have the aim program on my visor deluxe, even though i dont have a modem, but if you had a modem and all the correct connection numbers and stuff like that then you probably would be able to connect without much difficulty.

you will need a modem. either land line or wireless. If you get a land line one, you probably be better off getting AOL Mail.

on the requirements list, it says I need an internet account. I have a cable modem that I use at my house, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but I would need to obtain some other account (AOL, Juno, MSN, whatever). Yes?

If your intention is to get a landline modem, then the answer would be yes. You would have to have some sort of dial-up account (or dial-up access to your cable modem account, which is extremely expensive). If you're planning on getting a wireless Springboard modem, you wouldn't be able to use the modem without a wireless access package, so there's your internet account.

Tubs,

Check with your cable company to see if the provide dial up connection as part of their sevice.

Some broadband providers provide this service so that you can connect while traveling or your broadband is down.

It you have an AOL, get AOL Mail. You don't need an ISP.

If you don't have an AOL and want to use AIM, then yes you need another ISP.

Consider the Blackberry Device

Well I'm a visor person, but ..... as the thread originator opened this with respect to AOL, I would think that if this is the "only or main" thing that a person wants is to chat on the go AOL, I would think that the AOL Blackberry Device from Research in Motion would be the best solution. Kind of a real keyboard, but mostly $20 per month for solid full time, on line service.
