Question

I got the 8 MB Flash memory module. I'm kind of disappointed since the main reason I got it was for my drug databases. The database part (the big part) has to be on the internal memory, so I still feel constricted although I have over 5 MB left on the module.

Assuming there is no way to get Lexidrugs, 5MCC, and Epocrates on the module (please correct me if I am wrong), what good programs CAN go on the module?

I am interested in spreadsheets, games, fireviewer, avant go, etc...

Thanks.

Databases can go on the module, as long as they aren't edited (i.e. a high scores db couldn't be put onto the module, since it has to be edited after every game, but a medical db probably could.

I thought the med databases could go on there, but I get a fatal error when I try it.

Do you get the fatal error when you try to copy the dbs, or when you try to open them from the memory module? If the former, make sure that your File Mover software is v.1.1 (earlier versions are very buggy). If the latter, then I guess your medical dbs can't be run off the flash module after all. Kinda frustrating...

Unfortunately it is when I try to open it.

My File Mover is ver 1.2.

Oh well, thanks anyways.

Fanaka66:
The data bases for the Skyscape and Epocrates medical products cannot be stored in the 8mb module. However, their reader application can be stored in the module, so that should free a small amount of your main RAM up.

Also, if you want some medical references that can be stored in the module, all of the references from handheldmed can: ( http://www.handheldmed.com ). If you are looking for a quick drug reference that can be stored in the module the Tarascon ePharmacopoeia is free, go to http://www.medscape.com I actually prefer Tarascon's over the Epocrates...I'm used to their pocket book, and the PDA version is exactly like their book.

There are a lot of medical dataases available for the isilo/tealdoc/tealinfo readers that can be stored in the module: http://pbrain.hypermart.net/medfiles.html

Check those links out, pretty soon you will accumulate more info than your module can hold...I know I have

Exclamation

TealDoc will crash if a DOC file is on the 8MB SMB, but iSilo has no such problem.

Actually the newest version of Tealdoc (I've got v3.47) can support reading doc's off the module. Just make sure the documents are in "public format" not "tealdoc format"...The conversion is in the menu.
