When I reset my Visor, I found it reset in loop and can't stop until I perform a hard-reset of my Visor.

I had that happen once and it appeared to be caused by a program I installed (sorry dont know which one) I just did not reload it after the hard reset.

Another way out of this, without the hard reset, is to do a firm (or warm) reset. That is press the reset button while holding the up arrow key. During a normal reset, all programs get a signal indicating that the device was just reset (so they can do things like resetting their alarms). If there is an errant application that crashes when it receives this signal, the device will reset again. A firm reset does all that a normal soft reset does, except giving the applications this signal or loading OS patches. Thus allowing one to delete the errant application, and then perform a normal soft reset.

Was able to solve this prob

The culprit in my case was Interpilot. I didn't delete the app, since I use it, but I did delete its preferences (using PrefEd), which seemed to cause the problem after a soft reset/restore after crash.

Deleting it's preferences did the trick and I haven't had problems after that. Be careful deleting preferences, though, since it may either: (a) do nothing, (b) make you need to register again, (c) delete all your categories.

I've found this program good for cleaning up after messy apps which leave pref entries even after they are deleted. Sloppy bums.

Other reset woes

Goyena,

You seem wise in the way of the Palm OS. Do you know of a program that changes the hotsync name on the device running Palm OS? Somehow mine was erased and I had to do hard reset to put it back on from my PC. I'd like to be able to avoid that in the future.

Oops. My fault.

Should have said that there were more dangers to deleting Prefs than the measly three I listed. Of course, if you delete a Pref belonging to HotSync, your palm becomes the PDA called Nobody and the desktop starts to decide it don't know who you are.

So much for being wise in the Dao of Palm. There IS a program, called "PalmName 3.0" developed by Collin R. Mulliner. His website is http://www.mulliner.org/palm/ . Read his documentation on the difference between altering just the UserName or both the Name and the UserID as well.

I was also puzzled. It was the first time I'd had to do a hard reset after having my Visor for 5 months. Before this, I always seemed to be able to fix any problems with a soft reset. I tried reseting the Visor, resetting hotsync, and reseting my PC. All to no avail. It took me about an hour to figure out that my Visor had lost the hotsync name (figured it out with the dot 4 shortcut). I'm not even sure what caused it. I had taken my Visor to work that morning and hotsynced it with my work computer for the first time. I had never hotsynced it with any other computer but my home PC so I'm wondering if that caused my problem. Anyway, thanks for your help.
