Red face

OK, I'm getting nervous. I was a road warrior for years with my PalmIII and never had anything hinky happen to it despite literally hundreds of trips through X-ray machines around the world. But my Visor has hardly even left my ZIP code, and I've seen several stories about these things going south after going through security. I'm starting a new job in two weeks, and will be returning to the life of a nomad.

Anyone got any GOOD stories about traveling with a Visor?

Thanks!

Thumbs up

I have been traveling alot lately with my Visor about 6 airport security stations in 2 different countries and the Visor has handled perfectly. I carry mine in the Rhino Skin 2000 Pak and have not had any problems going through machines. I have had to turn on the Visor at a 2 of the airports along with my cell phone to show that it is not a bomb. My shoes and belt buckle on the other hand set the machines off everytime in Altanta.

Well, it is obviously going to set off the metal detector, and there have been times when I put it in the tray with my keys. Security normally makes me power it on to make sure it works (didn't check the springboard slot, though........)

However, I took to putting it in with my laptop lately. I had the 8MB Flash in my Visor, with the Backup Springboard in the case. I have been through the X-Ray at Columbus, OH three times, Salt Lake once, San Antonio once, and Chicago-Midway once, all with no ill effects

Just finished a trip from SFO (San Fran) to CLT (Charlotte). My Visor went through the x-ray machine in my computer bag at both points of origin. That has been a couple days ago and everything seems to be running correctly.

Actually the X-Ray data loss can actually happen. It, however, depends on the strength (frequency) of the bombarding rays. If they are of sufficent strength they can set up electromagnetic fields inside the visor which then can switch the binaries in ram. However most X-Ray machines are of low enough power that it doesn't hurt the visor. This also almost never happens to laptops because they are shielded with thin plates of metal just under the plastic in the case.

I ran my visor without a case thru the x-ray machine, right on the belt, no problems.

I just got back from a trip to Hawaii. No problems whatsoever with my visor. It was in my carry-on bag so it went through the x-ray machine in three different aiports coming and going.
