Unhappy The Dreaded Reset Loop!

Help,

I'm stuck in a digitizer reset loop. Handspring can repair it for $109 [no way, man!] I could get a new one i guess for under $90, but if possible I'd like to fix and keep my old Edge. I've had it since they first came out and am too cheap and sentimental to replace it right now.

I tried all the resets when I recently couldn't get the screen to recognize any taps [buttons were OK] but the hot reset got me caught in the loop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

It's kinda goofy, but have you tried taking the batteries out and letting it sit for a day? I've lost my screen before, and that's the only thing I can do to get it back.

The Edge doesn't have a removable battery.

I think it was suggested that you could try to drain the battery by leaving it on constantly. There's pretty much no hope in terms of recovering your data, but it might get you out of the loop.

Can you still turn on the backlight? that might help speed up the battery drain. it shouldn't take more than a day since the edge battery gives only about 10 hours of 'uptime' from my memory.

You can also try taking it apart and unhooking the battery...

I've never tried any of this... but it might be an alternative to getting a replacement.

Wink Problem solved!

Don't ask me how , but the edge screen just came back to life!?!

I had it sitting around in the cradle for a few days and every day would check it - to no avail, but yesterday it responded to the taps and is working fine so far.

I didn't do anything special, didn't try to drain the charge or anything - just the power of benign neglect i guess.

Thanks for all the tips however.
