Today, I receive the Darwin award: I carry my Prism in a leather satchel, along with my keyboard. This morning? Had to get the newspaper before heading off to work, put the satchel -- with Prism and keyboard inside -- on the rear deck lid of my car. And, you guessed it, threw the parper in the car, cleverly onto the seat in such a way as to cover where the small satchel would be and... took off. One can only imagine where the satchel slid off and slammed into the asphalt. Only been a few hours since I lost it, but, hmmmmm. IF it is returned I wonder what kind of condition it'll be in...The cost of this loss, nf course, next to my house, car and furniture... well, don't get me started. Looks like I'm headed for Handspring number 3. What an idiot! (I'd recommend a Darwin thread, but I'm afraid I'm the only candidate!)

I doubt it. Maybe one of the few with the balls to admit it, but not the only one. I've dropped my prism off the top of my car before as well. Unless someone runs over it, it should be okay. Mine hit the asphalt bare.

Whoh, there's a lotta death out there! Sadly, you may read my story on those pages. Or, actually AVOID the story, since you already know my tale of woe. Well, tale of Darwinism. (Read: stupidity.) PDAENVY, that's an interesting site!

Well, technically you can't get a Darwin Award for any of that. Had you managed to somehow kill yourself or otherwise remove yourself from the gene pool in the process of doing that, maybe it would be worthy of a Darwin Award. As it is, though, you just had a cranio-endorectal moment which at worst killed your Visor.

Pedantic, was that the term? Maybe he used his visor for reproduction.

GadgetGal: This is WEIRD!! My girlfriend presented me with a card today (because I had such a horrible day yesterday losing my Prism) It was a little card with... get this: a cat sprawled upside down on the couch. Inside was a little note where she wrote her sympathy for losing the Prism. Twilight Zone!

Are you channeling William Shanter? So...what was the final outcome with the Visor? Did you ever find it?

This one is pretty mild as far as pedanticism goes.

I always thought that techno-geek toys acted as contraceptives generally?

Not yet. But, I was smart enough when I lost it to have selected a route traveled by 51- to 18-year-olds. The creativity of my loss know no end. SO, ahhhhh, no, not expecting it to be returned.... Ever. *sigh* Thanks to all for the understanding and support. Sez la vie! Now... New Prism or M505.... Hmmmmm
