Chuck,

I sync generally 2-3 times a day during the work week, and my Palm III lasts consistently 40-50 days between batteries. The drain problem people speak about has to do with leaving you Palm organizer in the cradle. There is a slight drain on your batteries. There are websites that explain how to modify your cradle to fix this. Or just don't leave it in the cradle :-)

Question

Hmmm, wonder if HandSpring fixed the cradle drain issue? I know it's cause the port stays open so that modem access is possible. But with a USB port, I wonder if they reconfigured it or figured out how to avoid the drain?

Thanks for the info...I had heard about the drain if you leave it in the cradle, but was wondering if this was something new. (Although I can't imagine why it would take more energy to synch than for normal ops.)

It would be nice if HS had fixed this "issue," but really, the only reason I can imagine why you'd leave it in the cradle at work is for other folks to see it...and besides, isn't that what *meetings* are for?

Chuck

well,

HS did not fix the Power drain while using the serial/usb. Let's just hope that it dosen't carry over to the springboard modules too.

Question

Have you opened it up yet (or are you planning to)? If so, how is the ROM secured to the PC board; is it hard-soldered, or in a socket?

Unhappy

mike,

i found a screwdriver small enough for the 4 tiny screws, but the case is held together by means other than the screws and i dont want to break the plastic tabs.
