Thumbs down $10 coupon for registering...Not much of a much

So I upgraded to Visor Neo after my Deluxe started getting flaky. I got the $10 coupon for registering on their site, and figured I would buy something I really didn't need, but kind of wanted.

None of what I wanted is available on the site

Seems I can only get some cases, styli, and cradles direct from handspring, everything else comes from Handango or PalmGear.

I already have three cradles (two from the deluxe) a drawer full of styli, and am giving away cases I don't use anymore. After the Office Depot fire sale, I'm full up on Handspring backup and flash modules, too.

Even when I hit "buy it" for Blazer 2.0, it redirects to Handango.

Bummer.

It's too bad that people moving up in the Visor line don't get much benefit from the $10 registration bonus.

I'm lucky in that I bought a Treo without thinking about a second HotSync cable for work. So I ordered one with the $10 bonus. The bummer was standard shipping was over $8, so my bonus is basically "free shipping".

Similar experience. I used the $10 towards a case I would not have otherwise bought (the Flex Modulecase- an OK case), and basically got 'free shipping' and about 10% off~ not bad, not great...

But...

a.) How many other places bother to give you ANY reward for registration? I mean- come on... I register a ton of stuff and rarely get squat (sure, sometimes an entry to a contest that I never win, but otherwise- zip.)

b.) $10 may not be much, but it IS something. The sale price on the chess module, for example, might be an interesting toy at $10 off. You can ALWAYS use more styli. Or- get a case more for your stuff than for the PDA. (Downside to this, of course, is HS's rather steep shipping charges.)

c.) Finally- you don't have to use it. You got it for nothing, so if it goes away, you are not out anything. (Flip side of this is that there is some nagging thing in the back of my mind- this is MINE and I don't want to squander it!)

Yea I like how Hanspring gives you $10.00 off for purchasing their products upon registration, and when you do go to their website to purchase an item, you are then directed to some other partner site, like handago or palmgear where the $10.00 off is not valid.

Good work handspring ;(

LOL, yea, the $10 coupon sounded cool, until I realized there was nothing I could buy with it. There accessories are so expensive, that it's probably still cheaper to buy them somewhere else. I think they're just trying to as much as they can, get people to buy stuff from them, they need the money...Good try Handspring
