Question

Okay, I have two friends with Prisms at the moment (I'll be getting mine shortly). When they use the YadaYada browser, they get a strange Applications launcher 'issue'. Whenever they hit the Apps silk-screened grafitti area, it sends them to a strange different launcher type dealie with the battery indicator and time on the bottom. To get back to the regular Applications launcher, they have to tap on the 'Applications' icon (the curved arrow looking thing). This happens even with the modem module out of the Springboard slot. A hard-reset fixes everything, but it comes right back once you re-insert the modem.

Since I don't yet have a Prism (yet do have YadaYada's modem and service), I haven't been able to play around with this issue at all, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. And if so, is there a way to remedy it? It seems annoying to have to constantly hit the "Applications" icon everytime you want to get back to Palm's launcher.

Note that I do not have this problem with my BVDx, so I assumed it was an issue with with the YadaYada modem and OS 3.5.2, but I'm not completely sure.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Red face

Yes, Raptor, I've had that problem. It doesn't occur with YadaBrowse, but with the YadaLauncher application. What happens is when you launch the program, it asks you if you want to make YadaLauncher the default or keep PalmLauncher as the default.

I chose Yada. I thought the interface was ok but I had gotten used to the Palm version. Looking for a way to change it I went into preferences and selected reset launcher defaults or something like that. I thought it would set things back to the way they were. Nope!

The same problem that your friends had I had, too. I went crazy trying to figure out what to do without doing a hard reset. I tried everything, but the only thing that worked was deleting all Yada applications and reinstalling them from the CD-ROM as if you first got it. Then the next time you launch YadaLauncher be sure to select "Keep Palm Launcher as default."

I choose to keep the "Palm" launcher, mostly for a few reasons:

1. I had frequent crashes

2. Their launcher doesn't support the use of the graffiti area, i.e. write a letter "S" should jump you to programs starting with the letter "S".. I really use that feature a lot so the YADA launcher is useless to me.

3. Their launcher fails to show PQA files.

I'm much happier without their launcher. However, When they update it, I'll check it as it looks like it has potential, once they fix my 3 issues, I may switch.
