I just recieved the case I ordered to accompany my PDA. Makes me kind of sad to have a case and nothing in it, but I guess I will just pretend for now.

I just have to make a recommendation for this case though. It is made by InCase Designs. www.incasedesigns.com It is neoprene, but with hard inserts to protect the screen. It has a stylus holder and slots for cards, and yet isVery thin and takes no extra room up in your pocket (I tried it with my Dad's Palm IIIx, a similar fit, and it is great) And for those of you worried about neoprene not looking professional, it comes in blue, red, and black. I ordered the black, and it is very classy. The logo is even in a silver rubber, which would match the buttons on the graphite visor nicely. Overall, it is small, light, secure (zipper close), protective, and elegant. A very nice design! And a good price! (also available at www.palmgear.com)

Please post here any recommendations for good cases so we have something to hold while we wait.

ebcases.com makes the best cases ever to me. they are real leather wallets that incorporate your palm into a wallet. the palm V model is the only one really walletworthy; but i am bery happy with my palm3 case, the slipperIII

also coming out with a model for the visor :-)

You could put a calculator in it and pretend it is a Visor. This should keep you going for a few days :-))

Question

I really like the Rhino Cases - does anyone know if the Vdx will fit in any of the Palm III models? I remember seeing a case review in the last couple of weeks here on VC, but I was wondering if there have been any updates to that info -

GO SOX!

Ya, I sent an e-mail to Rhino, it will fit for the DX BUT you will not be able to use IR or Hotsync while its in the holder (contrary to a Palm) This is due to the IR position and the Sync hook on the VDX cradle. I'm sure you'll be able to sync with the partable cradle thaugh. I'm very close to getting a shockskin...still waiting a bit cause I would like to know how easy it is to take it in and out of the case...Palm 3 users can you comment on this

I ordered a ShockSkin. I should be getting it today. I won't have anything to put in it either for about two weeks.

I want to get a shocksuit as well. I e-mailed Rhinoskin to see if they were making one for the Visor, and was intially told no. But then I received a second e-mail from the same guy who said that indeed they were making a shocksuit specially for the visor (to allow for the offset IR and the springboard), but that it probably wouldn't be ready for a little while (he must have doublechecked with the decisionmakers).

I really want that kind of protection, but it's something I'll definately wait for instead of getting IIIx shocksuit now. In the mean time, I think EandB is coming out with a Slipper for the Visor fairly soon. Not nearly the same protection, but an excellent second case when a more professional look is needed.

Once again, Rhinoskin is another example of a company that could have been ahead of the game if they had kept their eyes and ears open!

Has anyone found retail stores that carry a lot of cases? It would be nice to feel and touch the cases before buying them..

Like gene, I wouldn't mind being able to touch and feel these cases. There are a lot of cases for display on www.palmgear.com but, based on previous buying experiences with Palm cases, it's tough to know whether I'll like one when I receive it or not.

I too ordered my case made by incase.
It is a neoprene case that comes in blue to match my blue VDx. If you want it get it from www.fabric8.com they have the case for $10 cheaper than anywhere else. With cheaper S&H too!

The information about the Neoprene case suggests that the PDA is attached to the case by a velcro strip. This would work for Palm devices but may not work with the Visor since the slot for the springboard would occupy the area on the PDA where one would stick the velcro strip. Any comments from members who have received this case?

Warning on the Rhinoskin ShockSuit! it looks good in the pictures, but the case doesn't hold up well. I got one for my Palm III, and the Velcro closure on the cover pulled off in less than 24 hours. They replaced it for me, but the next one did the same thing so I gave up. The velcro is only glued on at either end, and the middle pulls out. I also didn't like the stylus holder; my stylus fell out almost hourly! Considering that the Visor I ordered won't fit quite right, I'm going with Handspring's holster case for now. Good customer service at Rinoshkin, though: my money was promptly refunded.

Get a Franklin Covey case. I have a great thin case for my IIIx that will also fit the Visor. It's slim, leather, has a great stylus holder, is perfectly crafted, and wasn't incredibly expensive (40 dollars after getting a discount thanks to my employer). I highly recommend it.

Here is an idea for velcro mounted cases. Put the velcro strip on the outside of the snap on case for visor. Since this cover also snaps on the back, if the snap o case in the purchased case, then the visor will snap into it, making the velcro never to touch the visor. It won't work with a springboard, but what small formfitting case will? The snap in way it the same way all the Handspring cases are designed, so I know it works.

I looked into the cases currently available. I agree with dqk57 and Ronin that the InCase Designs PDA Palmtop Case is a good one and I can recommend it.

I ordered it yesterday (from Amazon.com where it's only $17.99 instead of $25) and received it today (even though I only ordered UPS 3-7 days and paid $5.06 shipping).

I ordered the blue one to go with my blue Visor. I'm really happy that the Visor can fit in this case even with its hard plastic cover on it. It has room for one of my spare Palm sylus's too.

I ordered a RhinoPak 2000 from PalmGear HQ yesterday. I was looking for something that would protect the Visor but still accept Springboards. Since most of the Palm/Visor cases available (including all the cases from Handspring) fit the basic Palm or Visor very snugly, they wouldn't leave any room for a Springboard to stick out the top, even by a little bit.

The RhinoPak 2000 was built to accept a Palm with the modem attached, so there's plenty of room. Additionally, it's secured in the case by elastic bands, not velcro. It's got plenty of pockets for batteries, business cards, styli, Springboards, or whatever else you want. It's built pretty ruggedly. I'm not worried about dropping it or getting it wet with this case. PalmGear only has it in black, though you may be able to order other colors directly from RhinoSkin. It shipped from PalmGear the same day I ordered it, and they offer all sorts of shipping options (I chose USPS Priority Mail).

I ordered a Visor, not Deluxe, and that does not come with a case. I was wondering if anyone was interested in selling me their original Deluxe case.

Once I get my new case, I'd be happy to give you mine. However, I'm not expecting to get a new case until Christmas. I keep dropping hints around my wife. Hopefully she'll catch on. Anyway, if you don't mind waiting that long, you can have mine for free (if you pay shipping).
