I'm posting this for my dad who has a new Vplt. He has his addresses in an excel spreadsheet. Does anyone know of an efficient way to get them into his visor addressbook? The best I can come up with is to import the spreadsheet into something like TinySheet and then cut-and-paste over (Yuck!) Has anyone seen some kind of doc converter that takes excel files to .pdb files?

If your dad can save his Excel spreadsheet as a .CSV file, he can use the Palm Desktop (Windows version) to import them.

IIRC, the import function will display a field mapping dialog box, allowing your dad to "tell" the Palm Desktop which fields is what.

Once in the Palm Desktop, a sync with the Visor will transfer the information over.

ProjectZero's reply assumed your dad was using Palm Desktop as his desktop PIM. However this also applies to most any other desktop PIM. At least every desktop PIM I have looked at does have the ability to import CSV files. Thus, save the Excel spreadsheet to a CSV file, import into what every desktop PIM he is HotSync'ng to, and then HotSync. Best of luck.

Thanks folks.
It works. We had a slight bobble when we imported into the desktop, then realised that he had selected outlook as his PIM app, then tried to get things imported into outlook (which worked, but the formatting was screwy). Eventually we just reran the installer, switched back to the palm desktop and everything worked fine.

BTW, The Excel file was on a Mac, which he saved as a .CSV on a DOS floppy. When he tried to import, his machine couldn't find the .CSV file on the A drive, but when he copied it onto the C drive, it worked fine. Go figure
