Question Buying expense items online OK?

I've bought many items online in the past and have never had a problem. Actually miss etoys had to go to toy shopping at the mall this year for the kids. We are in the market for big screen tv and was thinking of purchasing this one http://www.onecall.com/PID_12450.htm
The deal is about $400.00 cheaper then anything I can buy locally.
The company seems to check out too. Any reason why I should buy from bestbuy or curcuit city instead of the online. ok tell me your horror stories. The deal can't be that great.

I can't think of ANY reason TO buy something at Best Buy or Circuit City

I'd recommend you simply check the BBB and see if the place checks out. If it does, put the purchase on a credit card (as it offers you some protection) and go for it.

Last year we were looking at purchasing a excercise bike. Prices locally were between $400 - $500. The place with the $400 price said they'd match any price. I finally found it online for $290. The store said that was below THEIR cost and there was no way they could match.

Well, I was a bit suspicious, but ordered anyways, and was completely satisfied. The online store said they simply sell more units than any other store and they get the best prices from the factory.

BTW, etoys.com is back...now owned by KB toys.

it does have bb seal of approval

The site actually displays the BBB seal of approval. And has high ratings from Bizbuyer. I agree with you about not buying from Bestbuy it just amazes me that the deal can be $400.00 better buying online.

I know KBtoys took over the etoys name but it is definitely not the same. Etoys selection was incredible, probably why they went out of business. Shopping the new etoys is like shopping at KB's at the mall only without the barking dog toy that greets me at the store entrance.

What's next do I buy my summer house and car online.....maybe a small country

Check out www.resellerratings.com. They have extensive comments on almost all on-line merchants. I recently was in the market for a new digital video camera, and several on-line merchants were offering it for about 60 percent of the Best Buy/Circuit City price. When I researched the retailers, I discovered numerous comments that the merchants I was looking at specialize in grey market merchandise (manufactured for overseas markets, no U.S. warranty, camcorders without any batteries or chargers, etc.). I did some more research and found a merchant offering the complete U.S. camera model at a slightly higher price (but still $500+ below the big retail stores). As someone mentioned in an earlier comment, unless the item has a price that's essentially fixed by the supplier, you're crazy to buy any major electronics from Best Buy or Circuit City.

I know quite a few people who purchased their cars online.

Tyrone mentions something important. A lot of camera/video shops that are based out of New York State are notorious for grey-market equipment. If you are buying camera equipment, do a lot of research first.

this is totally off topic but i for one am happy that etoys went out of business. i boycotted the company, along with many others, when they sued another site that had registered etoys.org PRIOR to etoys.com even existing. etoys.org (it mighta been net, i can't recall for sure) was not even a commercial website and therefore was not even competition.

i say good riddance to etoys.com and their nonsense.
