Auto Cradle

I wanted to find out if anyone knows of a good cradle to use in your car. I have a Visor prism with a Sprint Digital Link that I need to have mounted in the car so I can see the screen.

Thanks,

Jason

That's a bang-up idea, would work for the GPS as well. I guess you'd have to get an inverter to power the Prism, though. You could use one of those cheap cell phone holders they sell at Wal-Mart, if they adjust out far enough. I'm gonna try one for the GPS, I'll let you know (AFTER the Christmas rush - I hate shopping)

Let me know how it works. I've tried some of the cell phone holders and none of them work.

There's not a picture, but this one may be the answer, I have a pic that came with my GPS, it looks like it holds the Visor. Amazon says a pic is coming soon, we'll see...

I purchased a PDA auto holder from Staples (www.Staples.com). Looks much like the cell phone holders except wider

Includes a tough suction cup holder for attaching to the windshield and 2 dash/floor mounts.

It works well with my Visor-D and the magellan GPS unit IF you get the angle right. Otherwise the GPS sticking out the back of the visor will allow it to slide off (not nice in rush-hour traffic).

Good luck!

No, I am sorry - I have had it for the better part of a year now. I simply went into the local store and they had them. Office Depot, Best Buy and CompUSA have similar products on their shelves.

Good luck!

OK - I feel somewhat obligated now to find a source for these.

I called the Staples that I purchased my mount from and of sourse they all acted like I was crazy. Sooooo..

Give these guys a try:

I'm kinda partial to the dual "cell/palm" mount although it be a bit pricey.

Have fun!

You didn't have to do that...

Unfortunately, the holders are the Arkon models and I don't think they'll work for the Visor/Digital Link combo. The Digital Link adds both length and depth to the Visor so a standard holder won't do.

I looked at mine and all that it says is "HR Design" but no luck with that name search.

The one I have is a suction cup model with adjustable sides and and little lip on the bottom to keep it from sliding out. The top is open. I use my Magellan GPS module in my Visor with it and it works pretty well.

How does this help you all? I have no idea..........

Interesting... that's the same as a cheap plastic one I have laying around here. It has a little gooseneck and a large suction cup base. If I remember, it was sold under the Samsonite name and I got it in a clearance bin at Staples for like $5.00. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold the Visor secure enough for my liking (it slips right out over the slightest bumps.

I do appreciate all your effort here...

um... er... yeah... Kind of, anyway. They don't seem to have them anymore around here (I was there as recently as Saturday). And since it didn't really work for what I wanted...

You threw me for a loop with that link to the other ones. I guess the bottom line is I'm still looking for the ultimate auto holder for my VDX.

That's quite odd, I think that we still carry these......
I'll do some investigating tomorrow at work and come back with my findings.

Check out www.mobileplanet.com. I just found a Ipaq holder that has side grips and works great. It is under Misc PDA accessories. Also found the same thing at Staples. Here is the link:
