Question

Being a future PDA owner, I am confused about the stylus. I understand what it does, and the fact that the currently shipping Visor stylus apparently sucks, and why you would want to get a replacement...

But why on Earth would you want FIVE replacements? Do they wear down?

design8r, if you're anything like me, I seldom have a pen long enough for it to run dry. Misplacement is the number one cause of pen death on my desk. Although, it's always a pleasant surprise to have a big clean-up and find a few of them.

There are several good true Pen/stylus units some are made by Rotring, Y&C, Lizzell and even Cross. I've found that using these multiple tipped pens/stylus combos keeps me from losing either one.
Franklin Covey stores have these Y & C pens with a combo blue, black, red and pencil 4 way pen. Then you simply replace one of the colors with a stylus tip and off you go. For myself where I use ink still, these work great and I haven't lost one yet in over 4 years. When you spend $50 for a pen, you have a tendency to "not lose" it when your out running around.

I just found a 3 pack of stylus at Fryes for $13. Nice and heavy, very solid feeling. They were replacements for Palm III and V so I'm guessing they should fit my Visor. In any case I can keep one in the case, one at home, one at work. Just in case . . .

My parents and brothers both have PDA's, for about 2 years now. Niether have gotten there styluses worn down, nor should they. The stylus isn't like a pen in the form that it has ink (some do but...) but rather a blunt pencil with no lead. one like to have this stylus metal and strong and since ther is a place hold the pen in the PDA it wont get lost. but i agree does any one want to split some styli eamil me [email protected]
