Hey, at least we know that spaceballs isn't vaporware... How exactly have we confirmed the neo? Did the Oracle identify it for us? What about Visor Morpheus?

...Seriously, I think that everything, from our board to c|net, started because of that quote unquote staples release, which I've yet to see posted anywhere.

...ow...ow...what's that...ow..ow..my leg hurts....

Quit pulling on it

Seriously. We all watched spaceballs and we all laughed. We all heard about these rumors, and I think it is Edd (or could it be Alex Schwartz...Edd is the code name!!!!), is sitting at home laughing about how he got his rumor on c|net and MSNBC. Where has he been the last week anyway...?

BTW I think Visor Morpheous would be sweet. But we will ahve to wait for the "other staples document" to confirm that.

I think that Staples thing should be taken seriously. It was correct about the price drops. The only reason we were expecting the new models on monday was that the prices were dropping then. So we may have a few weeks still. Besides the CS rep from HS i talked to says they don't tell the CS reps about new models until a week before. I talked to him the Friday before the new models were supposed to be coming out and he knew nothing. Of course at most companies CS Reps know nothing anyways.(Through my own personal experiences with them)

Right. When did you see the words "Neo" or "Columbia" on a Staples document? Has somebody posted it? Can you post it? Can anybody (w/out Photoshop, that is).

Man, I'm pretty good with Photoshop, maybe I should get started producing fake rumors and selling them.

...Yes, I will admit that it's entirely possible that I'll check VC tonight and the Neo will be released. But we've seen nothing but a list of specs, with a source attached. I'm not saying they're bogus, I am saying they're not solid enough for me to wait for them or get hopping-excited over them.

You know, a university should conduct a study to see how difficult it is to get bogus stories spread about the internet and across the news.

I'm pretty good with photoshop too. Maybe we could go into bussiness together.

Anyway, yeah it is possible that the rumors are true. Wether or not it is probable, that is a whole other question.

YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SPACEBALLS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yeah, I'm not sure of the year, but it was before 1995. It is a parody of Star Wars. It is excellent. Watch it, you won't regret it.

Robert, you'll love it. High quality movie, esp. for adolescent boys. Star Wars spoof. Just wonderful.

yeah, star wars, star trek, buck rogers, and just about every futuristic space show/movie out there. I mean, it's hard to miss the "Beam me up, Snotty"

I'm pretty sure it's mid to late '80s movie.

It's by Mel Brooks. ('Nuff said.)

Hardly. You might also want to say, run out and rent:

"Blazing Saddles" (Western parody)
"Young Frankenstein" (Horror parody)
"The History of the World, Part II" (Historical Spectacle parody)
"Silent Movie" (guess what parody)

There are a couple of others, like the "Producers" (now a musical comedy) but those should keep you busy glued to your TV until the new Visors come out.

"Spaceballs" came out in 1987.

Actually, the new visor is out already. Thing is, instead of
"graphite" or "ice," it only comes in "invisible".

Hehe.

Hmmmm. Interesting. How far in advance of product release does Staples usually set up new SKUs?

This seems to match with what I said. The Neo will replace the Deluxe & Platinum at the middle price range. Who wants to bet it has the 33MHz processor? I wonder about the colors. Since blue and Graphite are the two most popular Deluxe models, it makes sense to duplicate them. Red seems to be the new color for 2001. I guess Ice and Orange get shorted. This is probably better for the resellers.

The Visor Pro looks to be at a new high-end price point. Since Palm has nothing to compete with it, it will probably be fairly popular among the power-users. [meaning us] It's priced the same as the Edge, which leads me to wonder that we have to choose between looks and features...

I still don't imagine they'll be announced for a few more weeks. That really depends on Handspring's inventory levels on existing products.

OOOOHHHHH!!!! SMOKE!!!! Sounds like a translucent graphite to me

HS just about got my $199 bucks. Unless of course the PRO is that much better.

No Wireless

Looks like wireless is not going to be included (not at a $299 Pricepoint for the Pro, it seems unlikely). There must be more than one product release planned this year. Donna indicated an integrated wireless device would be released. I don't see how they will be able to pull it off at $299.

However, if they plan to release a device at $299 that includes Color, Wireless/Voice and 16MB they got me hooked (again)! It could be a remote possibility considering they dropped the VisorPhone down to $50 with a service plan...
