Hello all (*john waves to curious NYTimes readers*)

The stylus that comes w/ the Visor (at least the one that came w/ mine) has a small ridge near the tip. If you write straight-up, you're ok. However, if you tilt the pen at too sharp of an angle, you can bring that ridge into contact w/ the screen, and it will leave a scratch.

I'm not all that concerned w/ the few scratches I have; they're not too annoying. But it you'd like to minimize the chance of scratches, take some fine sandpaper or a fine-grain nail file to that ridge and smooth it down. Works well.

Also, there are people who will swear by the WriteRight screen protection, and this is probably a good solution for those who want to go that way. If you're just trying to minimize wear in the Graffiti area, Scotch Magic tape (Blue Box) is a low-cost and effective solution.

Yes- this material has been posted in one form or another before. I have noticed that we have a lot of new members and not everyone uses the search or "see older than 10 day old" features of this site.

Oh yes, I still love my BVD. (Blue Visor Deluxe). On my third set of batteries, and waiting on some NiMH's. 1 meg left to fill. Count this as a positive post.

Strangely, I viewed this message as an urgent cry for help. I think it's time for you to get to VA (Visors Anonymous), guy.

Think 1500 Sicicon Carbide sand paper. (On the stylus, not the glass). If it can leave a mirror finish on steel it should do a nice job on that ridge.

Question

Where are you getting those batteries from? I'm looking for a good set (probably 4 AAs) since I can tell I'll be wearing out these babies pretty quick.

Thumbs up

http://www.thomas-distributing.com/index.htm was mentioned as a good source earlier in one of these threads. Haven't gotten the batteries yet, so I can't vouch for 'em, but the prices look good for NiMH's. And it was easy to order on their website.

One suggestion: AAA's will fit much better in the Visor than AA's. Get them.

Strangely? I'll agree. ;-)

Yes, I've burnt some batteries. OmniRemote and synching more often than prudence would suggest have tended to discharge the alkalines. And 1.2 meg of the used up memory is the accidentally-linked-to 800+ email messages.

VA? Well, the abbrev.'s been taken. Corrales ain't too far from Rio Rancho, bud. We could meet and come up w/ the group's name after the fact.

You *were* planning on attending too, no?
