VPL more crash resistant than VDX?

I'm on my 4th VDX (one cracked screen, one dead screen, another was crash-prone). Now this one is crashing again - at least once a week. I've installed the HS patch as recommended by their software, and it still happens. If it weren't for the backup module, and the Stowaway keyboard, the VDX would be in the trash long ago...
It even gives me a dicey feeling while using the b/u module - it hangs occasionally while "verifiying data..."

I like the idea of a PDA, and I feel I invested into enough software, and the keyboard, that I'd feel it's a terrible waste to toss the VDX. However, the constant crashing is starting to tip the balance... Without going through a list of software (BTW I don't think I have any hacks), does anybody find the VPL to be more reliable overall? Tradeoffs with the VDX? Or is there a migrating trend to say an Ipaq or Jornada?

Thanks for your views.
Jonathan

I replaced my VDX by VPL recently and yes it seems to be more stable. I think this is because of the newer OS(3.5).

These crushes on VDX or VPL are not the result of some kind of random error. It is posible to localize and fix the cause of crushes (it's easier on VPL than on VDX of course).

this is an interesting idea. maybe it's true. i never had a visor deluxe, but i used to have a palm iiix. it crashed about once every other month. i now have the visor platinum. i've had it since december. only crashed once.

Yes, I believe the VPL is more stable than the VDX. My VDX crashed on me many, many times and it frustrated the H*&& out of me. I have had my VPL for 3 weeks now and it has not crashed once. I'm much happier! Go with the Platinum if you can! Lorraine
