Visor Edge Sex Appeal keeping you using your Edge?

I'm sitting here looking at my Silver Edge in its cradle, right next to my Handera 330...and the techie side of my brain says, the Handera kicks A$$ when compared to the Edge. I mean built in CF & SD slots, Jog Dial, High Res screen, really useable cool blue backlighting, and a totaly durable unit.

However for whatever reason, I'm having a really hard time switching from my Edge. I like the feel of the cool metal, plus with the case I got for it, it is really, well, as Austin Powers puts it, A sexy wee bastard...

Thus my dilemma, I know that the Handera rocks as a Palm PDA...I mean it doesn't have all the features the high end Sony's do...but then again, I didn't pay the price Sony want's for their's either. I find I like everything about the Handera, and yet, pulling that out of my pocket, doesn't give me the same well, 'cool factor' feeling that the Edge does...despite its obvious shortcomings when compared to the Handera 330.

Anyone else having problems leaving the Edge because you like the form factor sooo darn much you're hooked?

Yes, I have a problem I know...but I forgot to mention the Platinum, Diamond Mako, and Jornada 568, all of which have failed to pull me away from the Edge.

I got an Edge recently after dropping my VDX on kitchen tile floor. I thought it was sexier than heck, but when I found out that Prism's were same price as Edge, I packed it up (before I could change my mind) and swapped it in for the chunkier, but color-rich Prism.

But I know what you are talking about. It's darn pretty.

Dorelse i feel you pain.

I went threw many many months with the same issue. Its just so dang pretty.

And its the fastest thing around. no need to overclock.

And when you pull it out, people look at you like your one of those guys on SaturdayNightLive's Upscale clotheing store dudes.

And when i filled up 8mb and was using the SB sled alot...then i said my edge is pregnant. And the the fatal exception drama came.

WELL i now, as of yesturday, I own a M505 with 32mb MMC. And i am so happy.

Butt i do suggest for other people, keep your edge, unless you want color and are pushing the 8mb limit. The edge is fast and sexy. (just like me).

Yeah, I mean the 8mb limit is definetely there, but I COULD always upgrade to 16MB, and be set for a long time. I just really like the functionality of the Handera 330. I've got a 64MB SD card in it, and a 32MB CF card, and its just amazing. Its so smooth, and totally integrated, I just don't see how I could go back...but who knows. I haven't been able to give it up yet.

It's that damn sexiness that made me buy it and kept me from getting rid of it while I still could (pre-problems). It's just too bad the fatal exceptions aren't as sexy as the Edge. As soon as I started having problems, though, Mr. Sexy was on eBay faster than you can perform a quick lookup to find your mom.

I am now a proud owner of an m500 and I couldn't be happier.

hey Mokoni.... Congrats on your M500....butt why not the M505?

Just wondering?

I do miss i mean miss the speed of my edge. I now have to overclock my M505, and it still isnt as fast as the zippy edge.

hey dorelse I say keep your edge, since you do have the 330.

i think the only upgrade fron the edge would be color. the M500 is cool but i would still pick the edge over it.

Good luck.

Talking I LOVE THE EDGE!!!!

I've had the edge for 6 months.. I do have Palm M505 and Prism envy, but am stuck with the edge because I'm a poor college student. BUT I STILL LOVE IT!

It's so sleek and stylish and everyone has a Palm.. So why not be the new kid on the block and have an Edge? I have yet to use the Springboard Expansion SLot.. will I ever need it?

All i have to say is... my Edge + New Stowaway Keyboard for my Edge = Happy college student!!!

See thats way i love that we have a choice.
We are able to buy what fits our needs and wants.
I was happy with my edge and will still recomend it to anyone. I just out grew the edge and my needs changed.

Just like there are people that use the Visor solo still. The reason is they are happy with it and it fit them perfectly.

I wish everyone a happy new year and happiness with whatever PDA they choose or have.

Well, I'm trying to get down to 1 PDA...I've got a Visor Plat, Edge, Diamond Mako (POS, IMHO), Jornada 568, (which I just returned), and now the Handera 330.

I'm just blown away by the Handera, with the added memory card's, I've seamlessly got 8 MB + 64 SD + 32CF = 104 MB of total on board memory. Using FileMan & AutoCard, it is totally integrated, and I don't have any sleeve, or sled, etc. So I'm wondering if the 16 MB will be enough...Its really an amazing device, that again, from a Techie POV...kicks butt...but I'm thinking that the 16MB upgrade will be enough, and I'll just e-bay the Handera 330...I think...then again

I picked up a PEG-T415 the other day. The thing is downright tiny, but has some design mistakes, (poor buttons, hard-to-read screen, etc.), but the 320 x 320 resolution is hard to beat. I was planning on getting an Edge, but the Sony had better software, resolution and I will get a 32MB memory stick from Sony by mail.

Personally, I think the biggest problem I'll have leaving my Edge will be getting a reasonable price for it. I paid $400 for the thing, and I'll be lucky to get half that despite its being in new condition.

There is no law that says you cannot have two PDA's. I have a Prism that is my workhorse-take everywhere unit. My company ( www.tdscomputer.com in case you were wondering) has several Visor Platinums that I purchased for my staff. Whenever I go out of town or on a camping trip, I just grab one of my Platinums, sync to my user name, and head out. The extra battery life makes it worthwhile. (OK, I still bring my prism with me, I just use it less)

Keep both of them! Fill the Handera up with Ebooks and databases & such. Use this as the workhorse laptop replacement. Keep your Edge for daily use. It is the on you keep in your pocket. What the heck! Hold on to that "Diamond" thingy, too. You never know when you may come across an uneven table that needs a "Shim" under one leg

I've had no real problems with two Edge(s). Granted, my first Edge had no backlight but I had a no cost replacement in 24hrs. I only use the Springboard sled for backups and have been thrilled with the performance. They are fast and have an easy on the eyes screen. And yes, the form factor is very important to me. If my pda was any bigger I wouldn't have it with me when I need it.

Once, again, my Edge wins out. As much as I like the Handera, all of its features, etc, etc. I've decided to upgrade the Edge to 16MB's of Ram, and be done with it. I still have my MemPlug CF if I need anything more, which I doubt, plus I use SilverScreen, and just would really miss it if I had to go back...so Once Again, the Edge wins out. Probably for good this time. UNLESS, HS ever comes out with a similar Color unit.
