Anyone else feel that HS should have made the VDX $150?

I think that HS should have dropped the price of the VDX to $150 rather than $170. Anyone else think that $170 is too high for the VDX at this point?

Yes and no

...I think that 150 is the perfect price point. But that may squeeze the margins too much (assuming that they have margins anymore... and assuming that 150 isn't negative margins!)...

My guess is that HS is trying to slow down/stop the price war. They keep the VDX higher, that keeps the pressure off Palm...

Also, at 170, there's a kind of feeling they're trying to work in joe consumer's brain:

"Hmm.. the m105 is cheap... the VDX is more, so it must be better all around... esp. with that expansion slot.. WHOA, the m125 is 199?! The Clie too? I want expansion, I want the vdx."

...or something like that. HS will drop it to 150 if they have to, it all depends on just how desperate Palm gets.

It can probably be had for less than $150 with "coupons" and other "off" incentives.

I think that I like the fact I got mine for only $100 at a time when it was selling for $200. But I do agree that $170 is a better price point than $150. Once Visor solo drops below $90 watch sales skyrocket as people who orignally never considered PDAs because of the price reconsider.

Techie2000, why do you feel that the $170 price point is a good fit for the VDX? My Visor price points:

Solo: $100
VDX: $150
Plat: $190

Because I feel that in Handsprings current profit perfomance they need the extra $$$. Otherwise $150 would be good. Or you could just go to Staples.
