It's an information portal service, that's it.

HS is using MSN's service to provide a starting page for Blazer users that don't know how to change their default homepage or just prefer using MSN. If it's such a big problem, read the docs on the browser and change the startup page to VisorCentral

It's not like HS is planning on using Microsoft's OS, only a small portion of their information service via a URL Address when you start the application. Even so, it can be changed in a matter of 2 seconds by someone technically savy enough to take two menu options (99.9% of VisorCentral users).

I for one don't care much for Blazer. I tried it on my Prism/VisorPhone a couple of times and it "hung" on a couple of web requests when I was trying to show it to someone else (it eventually timed out but took about 3-4 min.). I wound up removing it altogether on the second "hang"(Perhaps 1.1 is better?)

I found the performance and reliability of PalmScape to be "Much" superior and I wound up paying for it instead (absolutely 0 problems with PalmScape). The only thing Blazer buys you over PalmScape is support for SSL which is something that is handy(or a necessity) if you want to perform secure transactions from your Visor.

Not a big deal folks! There's always other options and Blazer is only an "Add On".

You're taking this much too lightly. Once Microsoft get their foot in the door, it's all downhill from there. Better get an iPaq now so you can get used to using it, because that's where Handspring's headed. I'm praying a novena for Handspring's soul, and I've covered myself in ashes to (hopefully) atone for Donna's grievous sin. May God have mercy on your soul.

You can't change the default homepage!

Thumbs down

Charging for Blazer - is Handspring kidding? Help me understand this decision. Can decisions like this drive persons to the Pocket PC? Are the recent Palm and HandEra releases looking better? It's tempting. More and more charges to get what's essential to use a handheld computer as a true mobile device beyond that of a PIM seem to becoming a standard.

OK, everybody. Breath in, and breath out. Let me start with the worst case scenerio: Handspring stops selling Palm OS products and sells only Pocket PCs. This is almost as likely as Microsoft merging with Apple tommarow. And if this happens, first of all, your Visor will still have Palm OS, and second of all, if you feel you NEED to upgrade, you can just get a Palm. Simple. Unlikely.

Another scenerio: Visor sells Palm OS products and Pocket PC products. This is also unlikely. Very unlikely. And if it happens, you have a choice! Are you so anti-Microsoft that you won't get anything having to do with it? You're nuts if you won't buy a product because its maker offers selection!

Current situation: Blazer's starting page is MSN. Have you ever gone to MSNBC.com? It isn't bad! That's just my opinion of course. And if you want news having anything to do with either Microsoft or NBC, it's not a great site.

Relax.

It's hip to bash Mircosoft, sometimes Britney Spears and the boy bands. Where ya been? Under a rock? Now baa baa like everyone else and lay off the rhetorical questions... (just kidding)
