I just updated mine. Skins are still black and white but it works with my Prism! Got a Fatal error right after updating, but it worked.

I used to get "Fatal Errors" when updating Springboard modules as well.

I managed to solve it by disabling all my hacks first and if you're using Launcher III or Launch'Em, you need to disable that temporarily as well and do a soft reset.

Question MiniJam hack incompatibility

Hello!

Which hacks (if any) are you guys using?

So far we could only confirm MenuHack to cause trouble with the MiniJam. Please let me know if there is any other incompatible Hack out there.

Cheers,
Andre

Question

I installed this update from my Visor Deluxe, but when I put the MiniJam into my Prism, nothing happens. The screen flashes briefly, but the LED doesn't flash, none of the on-board apps show up in the app list, and the HW buttons don't do anything. It's strange, since my Prism has no problem with any of my other springboard modules, and the updated MiniJam works fine in my Visor Deluxe. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on what I should try next?

Did you try to run the MiniJam Updater on the Prism yet? This should re-install the apps on the MJ's flash memory. Maybe it needs to put some resident information on the Visor, during the upgrade??

Just a though...

Also, Andre is pretty responsive @ Innogear, you may want to email him, if that doesn't work.

Yeah, I actually tried that first, but the app said "update not compatible with module" or something like that. I don't think my Prism is even 'seeing' the module correctly. Except for the brief screen flash, nothing is happening.

Rob, try installing updater with Prism. That worked for me.
My Prism didn't really recognised MiniJam before updating, either(icons did show up but it crashed when I launched MiniJukebox).

Here's the process that I found that works:

  • Install the desktop update (setup.exe)
  • Install the .prc file to your Visor
  • Disable any hacks and the Stowaway driver (this messes it up often)
  • Run the update. If it says "Not compatible, hold the down button before tapping Begin. It will give you a warning but just click ok and continue.***
  • If it says it must reformat the module, click ok.
  • Once done, The apps are in color but you may have to run MiniJukeBox a few times or turn your VPR on/off before the garbling goes away.
  • Enjoy!
***Don't blame me if anything bad happens. Use at your own risk (but it worked for 2 MJ modules for me).

Thanks for the tip, James but it didn't work for me. Just to be sure, I backed up my Prism and did a hard reset, then loaded the MiniJam updater and held the page-down button before tapping 'Begin'. About 2/3 of the way through, it produced a 'Fatal Alert: ../Src/FlashAccessAMD.c, Line: 697, attempt to flash 1's over 0's.'

Fortunately, I was able to fix it by popping it back into my Visor Deluxe and re-running the update from there. Since my Prism hasn't had any problems with any other modules, I think maybe I have exchange my MiniJam for a new one...
