I have a PC using a USB port, previously the hot sync worked with outlook 2000, now I get this message:
"The file C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst is in use and could not be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again. (80040119)"
Outlook isn't runnning, What the devil is going on?

I re-installed outlook 2000
I realized that I had the Corporate/Workgroup installed so I re-installed with the Internet email only option and now get this:
"OpenMsgStore: An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured. (8004010f)"
I'm only running POP3 email accounts, any clues now?

Hmmm... If a HotSync worked before and now it doesn't, I would have suspected a file issue with your outlook.pst.
What I would have done was to run Outlook, right-click on your inbox to bring up the properties page and run the "Compact Now". You might want to convert your Outlook back to Corporate/Workgroup as well (it worked before in that setting; no need to change it to Internet Only).

In past i've noticed that Outlook95, 97 and 2000 will not generally release a PST that was previously open. Meaning you will not be able to perform any operation on that file, other then opening it within outlook.
Close outlook if you haven't, try syncing. If that doesn't help, try the good ol fashion ms(r) solution. reboot. don't open outlook, and sync.
