I am pretty new to the PDA scene, the Visor being my first. Other than getting a HotSync from anywhere, and updated mail/AvantGo channels, are there any other advantages to having a modem? Can you surf the web on a PalmOS Machine? Is a modem really worth it?

You can surf the web or send/receive email on-line without connect to your PC if you get the modem and proper software.

As soon as they come out with a modem, I'm there. I have one for my Palm III and used it for surfing the Web (ProxiWeb) and POP mail (ProxiMail). The only thing is that ProxiMail put out a beta and then disappeared. Luckily I had someone e-mail me a copy, and I love it. I added PocketFlash and can now get AOL as well. No more laptop to lug around on the road. Now all I need is an Excel viewer/editor and I'm in business!
