Exclamation

Just thought I would share this because it isn't every day you see Smartmedia Cards free after rebate. The "rebate" deal ends tomorrow, and the ad is incorrect. Just get a Lexar 16M Smartmedia card (or get the rebate form first) and you will see that you get a $30 rebate on a $30 card.

Although I wasn't interested, they also have compactflash cards, 16M, for the same deal.

Enjoy,

Brian

Question

Where did you see the $30 rebate forms? The online rebate center for Lexar products at http://www.compusa.com/products/reb...amp;mfg_id=3488 shows $10 rebates on $39.99 16MB Lexar cards.

that is a $10 instant savings. The actual price of the cards is $30. Supposedly (per the ad) you have to buy two cards to get $30 off; however, the rebate form says you only have to buy one card to get $30 savings. It specifically says "get $30 rebate for each card purchased..."

make sure they still have the forms before buying (what I did)...

Brian,

Where did you see this ad? Is it in a newspaper, magazine, or on-line? I'd be happy
to run down to my local CompUSA to pick up some free CF/SM cards for free...

Thumbs down Re: Rebate

I think they had pull it off. It is under Advertised Special on top tab, which should end Saturday. But no tone of $30 dollar rebate elsewhere, otheriwse I will be in luck.

Here to look: http://www.compusa.com/adproducts/a...category_id=454 </a>

It isn't *really* in the ad. The ad shows the cards for $40 minus $10 instant savings. Above the $10 instant savings thing is a thing that says "buy one get one free" and shows "$59.98 - $29.99 = $29.99 for two."

However, when you get the rebate form (it is purple, and there weren't any out - I had to ask for it... then they put some out on the shelves) it shows that you get $29.99 back for each card you buy. I suppose I could have bought CF also, but I don't need/want it so I just bought smartmedia.

That's all I know... I can try to scan and email the form, but I *think* you have to use an original form. I'll give it a go, though, if people are interested.

The one thing I do know is that the purchase date had to be April 1 - April 7.

Exclamation Warning: The CF cards at CompUSA are Lexar!

I checked out the CompUSA web site and saw that the CompactFlash cards they are selling on this rebate are USB enabled Lexar cards.

These cards will NOT work in the Matchboxdrive and Innopocket CF card adapters for the Visor.

Question

The USB Smartmedia will work with the Memplug, though, right?

*NOT* Free!!!

I just went to CompUSA today, and actually read the ad and the rebate form. It turns out that the 'buy one get one free' and the $30 manufacturer's rebate are the same thing -- you get $30 rebate only when you buy two 16MB SM cards at $30 each, you don't get the rebate on one and get the other one free. I still picked up a couple, though, since two 16MB cards for $30 isn't bad (less than $1 per MB)

That's interesting. The back of mine says "For every two of the following 16MB Lexar Media products purchased at CompUSA, receive $30." Maybe they realized their mistake and were able to change some of them...?
