i'd be more than happy to sell you mine -- 128mb of ram included, along with the software CD, carrying case, and a set of earbuds -- for less than $160 USD.
i will give you my honest opinions, positives first, then negatives:
+ excellent sound quality
+ convenience of having your music library at hand, so to speak
+ very good price-to-performance ratio (have you priced dedicated mp3 players lately?)
negatives
- it's supported by innogear, which has a demonstrated history of unreliability; furthermore, i just received email this week from their technical support representative which stated in part that they will not support modern host operating systems like macintosh os x and windows xp -- only older versions of those operating systems
- the minijam is dependent upon the visor -- for battery power and for general functionality (it cannot operate outside of the springboard slot) -- think about situations where (e.g., the gym) where you may not want to put your visor at risk for damage, yet you still want your mp3s
- innogear was absolutely paranoid about digital rights management, therefore they enforced a number of restrictions on the minijam: it uses a proprietary file storage format which locks you into their software only; their MMCs are secured-digital (which they don't tell you upfront) meaning that you may not be able to use them in devices expecting standard MMCs; song transfer between the host computer and the minijam is one-way-only (to the minijam) and is very slow despite the USB connection (expect 20 minutes to transfer 61mb of songs)
- a number of promised minijam features have not -- and will likely never be -- implemented by innogear, notably the ability to store other kinds of data (beyond mp3s) on the minijam
the reason i'm willing to sell is because i finally just gave up on innogear despite the excellent sound quality and ease-of-use, and bought a dedicated mpd3 player (the nike psa[play). if you're still interested in buying my 128mb minijam, contact me at [email protected].
edited to change one occurrence of "128k" to "128mb" to appease the eagle-eyed in the audience.
