Lightbulb GPS connections

Neither one of these sounds like very useful ideas, but for the sake of curiosity I'll throw them out there anyway...

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect a GPS unit to a Visor via the IR port? My guess is it would probably involve connecting an IR sensor to the serial end of a data cable attached to the GPS unit.

Also, is there a way to connect a GPS to a Visor via a serial docking cradle? This might be a more useful idea, since it would let you sit your Visor in your car up so you could actually see the maps that are scrolling by as you drive (I'm guessing you'd have to anchor the cradle to the dashboard so that it wouldn't go flying). Mind you, I'm not advocating that anyone add more distracting gear to their car and increasing their chances of hitting somone's grandmother while crossing the street as they tool along scrolling through maps.

I'm not sure about IR connection of GPS, but a cable connection is possible. Check out http://www.delorme.com they have their gps and visor cable there. As far as mounting the visor in the car, I would suggest getting a windshield mount rather than attaching a cradle to the dash, since the mount would be a much better hold
