Question

Has anyone noticed that you can unscrew the antenna on the Omnisky module? It has a nice threaded hole that it fits into. I wonder if there is any attachment to extend the antenna like you can do on the palm V version. That way you could boost the signal in weak areas.

Question I hope so!

I hope this is the case! I work in an area that is really spotty (Foster City, CA) and often have trouble getting a connection. It makes sense that this would be the case. Do the units use stock industry parts that already have third party extensions? I would think someone would try to sell these soon.

well it is a standard thread

After seeing this thread I removed the antennae from my samsung 3500 phone and it attaches to the omnisky modem, it'll be diffuclt since the antennae won't go into the body!
I also didn't notice any increase in strength, maybe one of the aftermarket boosters will work, but it is a standard threadon antennae!

I emaile Omnisky and this is what they said:

Hello Felipe,

Thank you for your message.

At this time OmniSky has no extension for the antenna. We are currently not in development to design a longer antenna for the modem.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us at (800)860-5767 between 5 AM and 8 PM PDT, or by visiting our website at http://www.omnisky.com.
