Upgrading

I was considering the upgrade and then I thought about it closely. I thought why upgrade to the visor edge? There is nothing about it that makes it worth the upgrade if you want to use the expandability of the visor. If you use the springboard then you should get a platinum not an edge because all of the benfits of the edge are lost with the stupid sled.

I think the only valuble upgrade is color. The only problem is that prism is way to bulky to fit in your pocket. Even a color edge would not fit the bill for a springboard user as the form factor is lost. Solution...

Simple redesign the prism so that it is the same size or a little smaller then the Vdx, increase the screen resolution, color depth, and add a voice recorder. I know everyone will think that this is a crazy idea but it makes some sense. Handspring has to keep the springboard viable and something like the edge does not allow this option (you lose the form factor and the SCREEN COVER).

Look at handera, they realized that in order to keep the best part of their PDA (CF and stuff) they kept the same form and added great features. By tooling around with the edge they lose the best part of their PDA the expansion possibilites.

What do you think? Just my 0.02.

I think it depends on the condition of the Visor and which particular 'crap' went with it. I sold my VDx for about that price recently, but it included a Xircom modem, backup mod, omniremote, hotsync cable, and Palm III belt case. They basically paid half of the original price for all that stuff. Not sure how this is ripping anybody off (it _is_ seemingly a little more stuff than the friend mentioned above bought, though).

Actually here is what they are getting:

1 Visor Deluxe - 3 weeks old, in "brand-new" condition.
2 USB Cradles
1 travel USB cable
1 HS Bifold case - excellent condition
1 HS pen/stylus
1 Extend rechargeable battery system w/ house charger
1 Extra Extend House charger / 1 Extend Auto charger
2 Flip Covers (Ice and Blue)
1 copy of MulitMail (I never used it)
1 copy of QuickSheet/Doc (I use Docs to Go now)

The Visor was a replacement. The original had that case cracking problem. So the Visor is brand new.

I really don't think they are a sucker for taking this deal. The equipment is in pristine condition. Not bad for a first PDA owner to have.

ok...

I'll buy that, it is a lot of stuff... and I think I was undervaluing the price of a used visor... when I re-read my post I think I sounded a little harsh, but I think it's pretty reasonable to ask $250-300 for all that.

I thought it was a pretty good deal. But now I have to find a new buyer, the first buyer backed out due to "lack of funds". I've got a couple of other prospects but maybe I'll put it up in the marketplace section or ebay.

Unhappy order processing

Well you can say one thing for sure with handspring, their order processing is slow as ever. Wonder when the first thread will be started like before about delayed shipments.

I ordered mine the minute the new site was up, they shipped at midnight that night from Salt Lake City, I didn't ask for overnight, so it's on the way....

Anyway, ordering process didn't seem slow to me at all!

Glad to see it's on the way, I'm regretting not having mine shipped overnight, it's still in transit

Thats ok, 4 day ship is better than the 2 month delay I first had for my VxD.

Currently looking now for a case that has the belt clip like my rhino.

Question 30-day return policy?

Does anybody know if the trade-up thing still allows you to send the edge back within thirty days? is that policy still valid? thanks.

Haven't been paying attention to this thread lately.
Mr. Read is certainly short-sighted.
