If I recall correctly, the Palm Desktop configures some registry keys for the current, logged in user. In order for the Palm Desktop to work correctly, you will have to temporarily give each user administrative privileges, and install the Palm Desktop in each profile, then change the user privileges back to what they were. It appears to be a "quirk" in the way the Palm Desktop is designed. You can find reference to it in this excerpt from Chapura's web site:
quote: To install PocketMirror, you must have Administrator privilege as well as permission to write to your local drive. During the installation of PocketMirror, entries are made into the user's current registry and the local machine's registry. You must grant Administrator privilege temporarily to the user for which you are installing PocketMirror. This is also true for the Palm Desktop software being installed on NT/2000. Do not confuse this with installing PocketMirror logged in as "Administrator". Refer to your Windows NT/2000 manual or the instructions below. Once installed, you should remove the Administrator privilege from the user account.
(the bold emphasis is mine) This is a pain, I agree, but it appears to be the only way to get it to work.
