Is it just me, or...

As I read through posts here, I notice more and more people saying they've switched from handspring devices to clies... Does anyone here still use visors? It worries me, as I've asked for a visor for christmas...

I still use my Visor Platinum and will likely do so at least until this coming summer. The Clies are a bit more technically advanced and I think that people here are just lamenting the fact that there are no new Visors coming out with a higher res, color screen. Some are switching to Clies and you have to think that those are mostly power users who want the higher res screen.

I even admit that I am a little tempted by the T600. Thin, color, hi-res, jog dial, AND dual expansion.

The biggest reason I am waiting is because I want to see that the CF adapter comes out for it like in Japan AND I have enough money to get a 128MB card for the Clie. I have 128 MB of memory for my Visor through my Memplug SM and I don't think I can do away with my programs and "stuff" on it.

I have only had my pro for about two months and I love it. I have a good friend who has a Clie (I think it's the PEGS-320, but not quite sure.) In terms of value for my money, I think I got a better deal than she did. I will continue to support Handspring so long as their products are high quality.

I still use my Prism as well. The folks at Sony have never impressed me, wonder will they keep supporting the Palm OS if noone supports the new features they have implemented? It also seems like the folks who get the Sony PDA's are just after the wow factor. I got my PDA for contacts and the schedule, the games are a nice bonus, not a requirement.

Actually, I just switched from a Palm IIIx to a new Visor Neo and I did it for the Handspring modules. I went with the Neo because of price and looks. I prefer the translucent case and it has a good feel to it. I want color but am willing to wait until Handspring puts out a new model. The Prism looks good but I didn't like the additional thickness it has over the other visors.

But the main reason I switched was for the Handspring modules! These are very cool and severely underrated!!! None of the other Palm OS brands have the versatility that Handspring offers through the Handspring slot. With my recent purchase, was a coupon for a free MemPlug compact flash module. Now, I can use the CF cards from my camera and old Psion handheld with my Visor. Through the Handspring web site, I signed up with Audible.com and received a free AudibleAdvisor Handspring module for use with their system. I also bought the new Red-M Bluetooth module to surf wirelessly with my Visor and cell phone. Awesome! I plan on getting the barcode reader module from Symbol to catalog my books and perhaps the Raycom massage unit (yeah, that last one sounds a bit strange but all the reviews I've read sound good!).

Sure, the Sonys have the novelty factor and I'm sure are nice little machines, but for my money, anything with the Springboard slot beats 'em hands down!!!

My understanding of the CF Adaptor is that it is only designed to take advantage of CF Communication Cards. At this point the only thing I know of that works is a wireless modem. Not sure if Ether or BlueTooth will be supported.

LOL! I'm exactly the opposite. My clie was recently stolen, and I was able to get a good priced replacement Visor Edge. The Sony units are hands down superior to any of their counterparts. Handspring does have high quality products, but there newest unit is the Treo, which is great, but who knoes how well it'll do. The next unit they'll announce will not be until Q2 2002. They can't afford to release 4 units a quarter. Sony has something for everyone, and there prices are so competitive. Pick between a Visor Neo and S320. S320 is $30 cheaper, rechargable battery, memory stick slot, and better form factor. Pick between the Prism or 610C. 610 has high-res, memory stick, better form factor. Pick between the T415 and Visor Pro, I guess the Visor might win here, the T415 isn't that great a unit. Then you got your 760s, nothing can beat it but sony's own products. On top of all that, the Sony's have 4 MB Flash ROM and OS 4.0, which gives faster performance and REAL VFS support. That's why everyone is switching to Sony. Did and can Hanspring gain 10% market share in 2 weeks?!?! Visors are good, but they're are better things out there. It's like getting a Toyota Camry when you could have got a BMW for the same price.

I think what he means by novelty is that for most people, many of the things that the Clies have are not all that necessary. Certainly all those things are nice but most don't really need it. With the exception of the hi-res screen, people with Visors can get exactly the same functionality that a Clie has. Kind of a buy only what you want. Personally, I don't even need color. Sure it would be nice but I don't really need it. I am not going to beat up my Platinum and throw it in the trash because there are color or high-res devices. I don't need a thin device nor to be honest do I want one. The Visor form factor is perfect.

My Visor has VFS-support with a 128 MB SM card and it works just fine. It may not be "true VFS support" but it works all the same.

however, am I "scared" of Sony and the Clies? No. They are providing the most innovation right now for the Palm os. They have the capital to spend to innovate. Palm and Handspring don't have the money to churn out new devices like firewood. The innovations will come to handspring and Palm once OS5 comes out. Just be patient, enjoy your Visor, and don't be scared. Handspring will still be here by this time next year.

Well, you have to know the most recent version number for the PowerOne Graph program To be perfectly honest, I was hoping to win the GPS module or the Smart Pad 2. The kinds of things where you can't afford to get but you would really love to have.

I just downloaded a 30-day demo of PowerOne Graph and I have to say that its pretty good. Not as good as my Ti-89 but then again I don't want to carry around my TI-89 (bad form factor, like a brick, 1-bit screen, low-res screen, not enough memory to anything but graph and play Phoenix). Neither does Infinity Softworks claim it to be.

Free is Free, but I know what you're sayin, I'd like to have the GPS to play with, I have two myself, but a color GPS would be nice kinda neat.
