Question Step Keeper?

Hmmm... not quite sure it's any medical related. Although, they maybe referring to the USMLE Step board exams, but I doubt it. It's probably an module for exercise, like those walkmans that has a step counter. Some who could read Japanese help?

yes, it is

it`s a step counter module for exercise purpose(not a medical device, it said), it can work as step counter without Visor, and when you plug it into SB, you can put what your goal for excise (how much cal. you wanna spend/how much weigh you wanna lose), you can see how much cal. you used, compare the data with your past record, view those as graphs, and your choice from six cartoonish characters appear on the screen telling you that you are doing fine or you need to lose how much to get to your goal, such and such. you don`t need battery for this module, it recharges itself from Visor every time you put it in.

I kinda like the fact, in the middle of the sentences, Hagiwara declears that they will come up with many kinds of SB module from now on.

any more question? just remember, ask me for Japanese translation from now on(`cos I know those translation soft. suchs big time), and I will try my best.

I don't think so(I'm at work right now, and PC here doesn't have Jap. font so I can't read a thing...sorry!) but I can e-mail them and ask them, and at the same time ask to put up the English page so that everyone can get info. right away.
I'm gonna be home around midnight, gonna check their site again and post another one later.

I never liked these kinds of things to estimate how far you walk, one of the reasons I bought the Magellan GPS was just so I could have this functionality but accurately.

Purpose

I have one now, but it's not in a springboard module
While not particularly good at measuring distance (stride varies according to terrain, weather, etc.) it is good at counting steps. I use it to record all the steps that I walk in a day. It then tells me how long my evening walk will be. Appearently these things are very popular in Japan where they have a 10,000 step rule of thumb for minimal cardiac exersion over a day.
By the way, before Christmas, the last time I used a pedometer was in the 1960s and it really sucked. These digital models are MUCH improved. The moving parts are enclosed and they differentiate between walking and bumps in the road in a car/bus very well.

Talking Mr. Watanabe said...

seems like everyone talking about edge...why don`t we talk about module just a little!

Mr. Watanabe from Hagiwara SC kindly replied to my e-mail about their new Stepkeeper module and English page. As you might know already, the English pages are up now, so just click where it says English.

He also said there will be FAQ about the module on their pages. Since the release of edge made HS people busy at this moment, release for English version of Stepkeeper might be delayed just a little, but they are planning to sell it from late March at PalmGear, so those of you with love handles might wanna add that to TO DO...

There was this last sentence in the e-mail, and I quote;
"I can not say the detail, but there are some other modules we are planning to release by this summer. FYI, they are not health related:-)"

no matter what they are, I just can`t wait to see them!!
I mean, did you expect step counter module? that just so funky!! Who said Japanese don`t have originality!!? much respect to HSC!!
