Cool

I wrote to screen_scratch a couple weeks ago and received the autoreply back. I didn't expect much else to happen until last week when a mysterious package from Handspring arrived containing a stylus 5-pack. No note was enclosed, but since I didn't order this, I figure screen_scratch was responsible. Obviously the new stylus didn't erase the scratches on my screen, but they are way nicer to use than the original wimpy plastic stylus. They have more heft, so you can apply much less pressure to write on the screen. Not to mention that the blue stylus matches my VDX perfectly. In the meantime, my PDA Panache stylus arrived, and given the choice, I pick the PDA over Handspring's more colorful model. The tip on the PDA is different from Handspring's, and I feel much more confident that the PDA won't scratch my screen (neither one has added any new scratches). My screen isn't so scratched up that I want to hassle with replacing it; replacing the stylus was much simpler. I just hope Handspring has gotten the message that their original stylus is pathetic and needs to be redesigned pronto.

Had the same scratch problem. Called Handspring. I will be recieving a new one in 7 to 10 days. After i recieve the new HS i just have to pack the old one and send it back. No problems, I think they (VIsor) realize the problem people are having
Does anyone have any recommendations for a new stylus that will fit into the HS.

Cool

See my post "How to fix those stylus blues" for how to polish your stylus and stop it happening again once you've replaced your screen.

Question

I've been using my Visor Deluxe for a few weeks now, and my screen and grafitti area are both badly scratched. I called their Customer Service number, and, after waiting on hold for about 30 minutes, spoke with a representative. They are sending me a replacement immediately, and I need to return mine once I receive the replacement.

I want to eliminate any chance of scratching my new Visor. I already have some WriteRight screen protectors on order from outpost.com.

My question is: Do I also need a new stylus, or are the screen protectors enough? I just think $15 for a PDA Panache stylus is a bit much.

Has anyone had their Visor screen get scratched through a WriteRight protector?

I found that the WriteRights do protect against the stock stylus, but, your WriteRight gets all scratched up and you have to replace it much sooner than you'd otherwise. I'd get a PDAPanache. Nice stylus. Much easier to write with. The WriteRights make writing easier as well.

Angry

got a package from handspring today, i assumed it was my replacement VDx but the only thing that was inside was a lousy serial port and a fedex slip with a lot of padding!!!
i guess Visor still needs to work out their shipping bugs.
i called visor and they told me they would send another one and i should return my original hanspring and the serial port when i receive my new VDx. one more week.....

Unhappy

I received my PDA Panache stylus before I got my Visor: I never used the toothpick.
I still got scratches in the graffiti area.
Conclusion: it's not because of the stylii that you get scratches but because of the screen.

Wink

You use your Visor, it is the best thing in the world, you could not live without it, it scratches the screen a bit, Who cares? Get over it.

Lightbulb

Hi,

I found that the Stylus of my old PPro can fit quite well in my new VDX. The Stylus of PPro is better than that of VDX.
