While browsing the CNN site, I came across a VisorPhone Review posted today.

http://www.cnn.com/2000/TECH/comput...r.ap/index.html

The review doesn't say much, although it seems to plug it as a "great buy"

I like the idea of the visor phone and was contemplating getting one, but after giving it alot of thought have decided not to for the following reason:

If you want to use your visor for other items besides it's normal functions i.e., GPS usage, then you're stuck since you can't do that. Also, the phone does not work stand alone, so if you're driving like I do some times, it is not as easy to use as a stand alone phone.

I still think it is a neat idea and wish the phone module would work by itself.

There already is such a module. It's called a (drum roll) cell phone!

Yeah, I know that, and I have one. Just thought it would be nice if this thing could also be used stand alone.

According to Handspring's VisorPhone FAQ, one of their "developer partners" is making an attachment to allow for stand alone use.

If that is the case, then it usability of this increased quite a bit. I'm surprised I missed that in the FAQ.
