I posted before about problems with trying to sync between my home computer (Outlook 2000) and with Lotus Notes 5.0 using Easy Sync 3.0 (at work). I tried a few of the suggestions but those didn't realy help. I thought about trying something totally off the wall by having two backup modules (1 for home and 1 for work) and then just doing a hard reset in between. I know this makes me sound really stupid. I just want to somehow find a way to be able to use my Visor at home and at work. Also, I want to be able to use my address book in my home computer. I would setup Lotus Notes at home, but I still have not been able to configure it to my home e-mail. Does this sound like way too much trouble?

Due to the way the Easy Sync program works, you can only sync with one computer (and one Notes server). If you try to sync with another notes server or any other pc and/or PIM (aka Outlook) it won't work. Primarily you'll just get garbage, and secondly, the notes conduit will sense some kind of sync took place and then do a "slow" sync. Depending on how you have your Notes database configured it could take hours. And you may get duplicate entries and/or errors when you next hotsync. I recommend creating a local replica of your notes mail and ALWAYS hotsync from there (especially if your company uses fail over mail severs). Speaking of the backup module, I noticed it doesn't seem to back up the syncaddressDB, syncDatebookDB, SyncMailDB, SyncToDoDB and , SyncMemoDB databases correctly when using the Easy sync conduit, so when you try to restore from the backup module after a hard reset you'll noticed all your data is corrupt. If you have a springboard that comes with a filemover program I suggest you manually back up those 5 files to the flashram everytime you backup with the module. (I do this on my Minstrel S (and used to do it on my MiniJam). Without the (correct) backup of these databases you will not be able to access your info! The only way around this I found was to delete all the Address, datebook, address, TODO data and resync the whole thing.

In a nutshell, as much as I also would like to do it too, it doesn't seem possible.. If you read the docs with the Easy Sync program it says as much.. it's only 1 pc + notes server to 1 handheld.

We have been able to sync with two computers as long as the setup is the exact same (ie. Notes is setup the exact same way.) However, I am not trying to necessarily sync a home and a work computer (not anymore)but I thought if I had 2 backup modules, I would have access to all of my data. Also, I have not been able to even configure my Home PC to use Notes for a pop3 mail even though I was told it is capable.

You'll run into problems with the syncaddressDB, syncDatebookDB, SyncMailDB, SyncToDoDB and , SyncMemoDB databases. The backup module doesn't properly copy them when using the Easy Sync conduit.

Try it out sometime and you will see what I am talking about. Do a hard reset, then restore from the backup module. Try to look at your Mail, Memo's, addresses, etc.. You'll just have junk.

I'm hoping the backup feature of this module http://www.memplug.com/ will correctly backup my Visor. It seems to allow directories so you might just be able to do what you wanted to with the dual backups.

Do you get a (fast) static sync or a (very slow) slow sync when you work between the two computers?
