Hello All.

If this is a silly question, please let me know, but I am a new palm user... and I have been exploring all the different things to do with this thing (platinum)...

I have a Dell Latitude and a Platinum. This is the only computer I sync with. The Laptop has an IR on the back... I was wondering what I could do with this? If I did not have the cradle for example? Or to beam something just to print... is there any place to read up on this stuff?

Thanks
Terry

Hello,

If the Platinum is running OS 3.5, you can sync it with your latitude.

All you need to do is go under hot sync settings dropdown, select IR to a PC handheld.

There should be no problem syncing.

OS 3.5.1H on the Platinum has built-in support for IR syncing. Chapter 8 of the Platinum User Guide (located on the Handspring CD) explains how to do it.

Thanks for the replies.
I am pulling out the CD now.

Follow up Q...

Is IR sync... slower than the USB sync?

Thanks

Terry

IT will be MUCH slower. USB TEHCNILY is 12Mbps (about 1.7 MBytes a sec). IR will go at 110kb I think. I don't know excatly. But time how long it takes to beam a 500k file, commpared to USB. IT's an amazing difference
